The science of the
communication of evil has been developed by Communism to a terrifying
efficiency. They use all the techniques of Madison Avenue to deceive the
true. No expense is spared. The paper is the best; the photography is
excellent; the color is artistic and captivating; the message is adapted
to every mind. No one is excluded. There are excellent books for tiny
tots, specially designed material for children of all ages, women’s
magazines, worker’s magazines, –something for everyone. It is designed
to fit into the moral and cultural framework of the people to whom it is
directed. There is a complete absence of crime, sex, vice and alcohol in
their publications. The devil certainly disguises himself as an angel of
light. The cost to the Communists for their advertising campaign of deceit
has been estimated to be as high as five billion dollars annually.
COMMUNISM’S TWO
PRIMARY WEAPONS
Communism is conquering with two primary
weapons, Personnel and Publications. The personnel is primarily recruited
from among the student intellectuals. I made this point in my testimony
before the House Un-American Activities. A citizen of Hartford,
Connecticut sent this testimony to many colleges in the surrounding area
and asked for their comments. Most of them immediately went on the
defensive and declared that my information was years out of date. Then
came the dreadful events of the Nixon goodwill tour of South America.
Every report carried the sinister sentence, "The mob was led by
students. . . ." All is not well in the colleges of the world.
A MESSAGE FROM THE

Our dear Member and Friend:
It is indeed a privilege to enter your home or wherever you may be
receiving this News Letter, and we trust it will be a real challenge to
you. I would like to direct your attention to James, Chapter 2, verse 20.
"Faith without works is dead." Also James 2:26, "For as the
body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead
also."
Communism is making
terrifying progress and the only answer to this malignant disease is true
Christianity.
Words are inadequate
to express how much we appreciate your prayers and cooperation in this
great ministry which God has placed under our united watch care.
The Lord has
graciously opened many doors but the needs are tremendous. We are anxious

BOOK REVIEW
The Story of Mary Lou
One of the best informed anti-Communists in the free world is Ed Hunter.
He has written some magnificent books. Two of them are "Brain Washing
in Red China, and Brain Washing and Those Who Defeated It." His
testimony on Communist Brain Washing has recently been published by the
House Un-American Activities Committee. He has now written a magnificent
book which depicts the Communist Take Over of the Christian Church in
China. He takes a little Chinese waif, Mary Lou, left at the door and a
Christian Mission and rescued in the nick of time by the missionary. Her
limbs were frozen and feet and hands had to be amputated. With incredible
courage she prevailed over these difficulties and became and active
Christian worker in the Chinese Church. When the Communist came to power,
she went through the period during which they brought the church under
complete submission to their will. It is imperative that every Christian
should read this. The Communists are showing great skill in manipulating
the church in China for their godless purposes. Delegations visiting the
church in China return as most effective propagandists for Communism. The
only defense we can have is to know what really has taken place and is
taking place in the church in China today. Unfortunately, this magnificent
book "The Story of Mary Lou" has received very little publicity.
Please go to your book seller and ask for a copy. The publisher is Farrear,
Straus and Cudahy, Inc., 101 5th Ave., New York, N. Y. If your
bookstore does not have it, ask them to get it and you will thus help in
the cause of freedom. If you are unable to secure it, write to the

KOREA
The request submitted by the Rev. Bob Rice
of the Christian Revival Fellowship of Korea for a large edition of the
Heart, Mind and Soul of Communism for the Korean Armed Forces reached us.
Immediately the merit of his proposal was apparent. A request was sent to
you inviting your support for this cause. The response has been very
gratifying and to date $558.00 has been designated for this purpose. We
have sent $1000. It will be possible to secure 50,000 copies of the Heart,
Mind and Soul of Communism for distribution in Korea. This is very good,
but not good enough. We need to meet the request that every member of the
armed forces, both officer and man, may secure a copy and also that it may
be available to all the high school students in South Korea.
KERALA
The action of George Thomas in translating
my testimony on the Communist Mind into the language of the State of
Kerala and giving it wide circulation is thrilling indeed. It is so
difficult for us to understand what it is to live in a country where the
Communist influence is open and strong. It is impossible for us to
understand what it is to live in a country where the government is
actually Communist, yet that is the situation in Kerala, India. The state
government, is Communist, but, as a state government, its power is not
absolute so the citizens still have certain basic liberties. With great
courage, our Christian friends in Kerala have taken advantage of those
liberties to publish the truth concerning the nature of Communism. I thank
God for such companions in the struggle for Christ and freedom.
"As many of you
know, we have been asked to help in securing a daily newspaper in the
State of Kerala for the cause of democracy and freedom. The difficulties
are many, but the project is exciting and wonderful. By its very nature
this must be completely an Indian program. American publications are not
welcome in India. As the difficulties are great, so are the opportunities.
We believe it shall be done. Please continue to pray earnestly for the
realization of this thrilling project.
"The situation
in Kerala, India, confronting our brethren can be imagined in the light of
the following:
"‘In the State Assembly, the
Communist law minister had to admit, after a lot of questioning by the
opposition members, that the number of criminal cases had increased by
35 percent since the Communists took over the government on April 5,
1957. At this rate there will be practically no safety for life and
property for the people. According to the leader of the opposition, the
Communists have organized a private secret militia to intimidate and
oppose the peace-loving and freedom-loving people of Kerala.’
"In this
situation the action of our brethren, courageously facing the common
enemy, must be appreciated. How they merit our support!
BANQUET
On June 30, the first annual banquet of the
Christian Anti-Communism Crusade will be held. We appreciate the kindness
of the ministers and officers of the Lake Avenue Congregational Church of
Pasadena for making their premises available for this banquet. I am
anticipating meeting many of our friends. Together we will discuss the
plans for the coming months in his vital struggle.
ANDHRA
The name, Devananda Rao, and Andhra
State are familiar names to our readers. Devananda Rao is the president of
the Indian Christian Crusade. He is the brilliant young Indian who first
caught the vision of recruiting young Indian Christians in this battle. It
was my privilege to meet him and his young bride when I was in India in
1956. Some of you have heard me discuss the rather amusing courtship, from
the American viewpoint, that brought them together. As Indians, they do
not choose their own life partner. This is arranged for them by their
parents, and our brother and his bride had only spoken two sentences to
each other prior to their marriage. On a special visit that had been
arranged, he had asked her the following two questions, and receiving two
monosyllabic answers. The two questions were: "At what high school
did you study," and "what year did you graduate?"
Nonetheless, their marriage has been
very successful, and they are a devoted Christian couple. Their union has
now been blessed with the birth of a son of which they are very proud.
They call him Little Babu, and like all proud parents, they have sent us a
photograph. Devananda Rao, like a proud father, writes: "Mrs. Rao is
enjoying the good health and our Babu is playing well. He plays very well
in my arms during the morning hours before I leave for the village
evangelism and late at night after I return from the village work. Our
beloved Babu is pure red with sparkling eyes. It is our sincere wish that
he would become a most humble servant of God and love Him and serve Him in
India."
When we read of the statistics of infant
mortality in India, we are distressed. It is indeed terrible to think that
in many areas one out of every two babies born dies in the first year of
their lives from dysentery caused by drinking infected water. Our concern
generally is on an impersonal basis, but here is a child in which we have
a very specific interest. This thought came to me with shocking force.
"I wonder, will he survive the first twelve months? As his parents
travel around the villages, we must pray he will be protected from the
unseen dangers that lurk in the waters and all around them.
We can indeed rejoice that the Lord has
given us such fine co-laborers in India, and continue to pray for them and
support them.
ANTI-COMMUNISM SCHOOLS
The Communists are conquering the world
with two weapons:– Publications and dedicated Personnel. It is urgent
that we have more trained and fully equipped personnel in the struggle for
freedom. The job of reaching the minds and the hearts of the American
people alone is beyond the ability of one or a few men. If I speak to a
thousand people every evening and convince the thousand, I would lose the
battle for the American mind by more than two and one-half million per
year. The increase in population is three million a year. The only
possible successful method is multiplication. We must have more schools to
train more people. While I was in Washington, D. C., Richard Arens,
director of the House Un-American Activities Committee, discussed this
with me very fully. We were eager to conduct a school in Washington, D. C.
the first week in February. Regretfully we had to postpone it due to the
lack of finance to adequately promote it. Each school requires a minimum
of $10,000 in advance if it is to be successful. This is an imperative
need, and I am anxiously awaiting the day that I can report the time and
the place of our next Anti-Communist school. Please pray that we may be
successful in holding one in the nation’s Capitol in the near future.
THE AMERICAN SCHOOLS
While we are considering the needs of
far off fields, we must not forget the responsibilities at home. Because
the testimony is an official Congressional Document, there is an open door
for it into all the schools of America. We have a unique opportunity to
provide a copy for every high school student. The mechanics of doing this
is the major problem. Various projects are now being contemplated. In one
state there is a group proposing to print half a million copies and
distribute them to all the school children of that state. In another area
a group is being formed that they may go to the high schools and address
assemblies. Following the addresses, copies of the testimony are to be
distributed. This is a project very dear to the heart of many American
people and it merits great support. The Allen Bradley Company has given
generously. They have gone, not only the first mile but the second mile,
the tenth mile and the hundredth mile. It is urgent that other business
firms catch the same vision that the money may be available for a copy of
the testimony to be given to every high school student in the United
States.
FORMOSA
The testimony on the Communist mind was
translated and published by the News Services of Free China. Following the
publication, I received a letter from General Andrew K. T. Ming requesting
that a group of Chinese Christians affiliate with the Christian
Anti-Communism Crusade. It is the Crusade policy that all national groups
are indigenous and not subsidiaries of the American group. I wrote to Gen.
Ming suggesting that they band themselves together into a group for Christ
and freedom and to oppose the deadly Communist menace. That has now been
done. The following letter received from Gen. Andrew K. T. Ming outlines
the formation of the Christian Anti-Communism Crusade.
"Dear Dr. Schwarz:
"After received your letter, I
called a meeting of responsible persons on May 12th, 13th,
and 14th, and we decided to follow your suggestion. On May 16th
we formed a Christian Anti-Communism Crusade. I was chosen as director in
Taiwan and Mr. Wang Shug-Ping as assistant director, I am very glad to
sent you the photograph of ours here enclosed. At the same time we adopted
a general plan of organizations. There are four sub-groups: 1.
Administration, 2. Evangelization, 3. Christian culture, 4. Education and
a secretary under our headquarters.
"The work before us in Taiwan is
very simple, because our Christian all unite in opposition to communist
slavery, and many of them have tasted the bitterness of the treatment
given by the communist bandits. So all the Christian are intensely
Anti-Communist and not afraid of hardship or even of death itself.
However, owing to their poverty, they are unable to assume all the
expenses involved in our plan of advancement; We are much in need of help
from you for the further reason that our churches are making a strenuous
effort to become self-supporting.
"Our present urgent needs are: 1.
For translating and printing the material you have so kindly provided
together with the facts and photographs about the cruelty of the communist
bandits. 2. For establishing a course of research for theological students
and preachers to investigate communism and confirm them in the true
doctrine and so to enable them to undertake responsibility for the
Anti-Communist work and lead them to enlist in this Crusade. We are all
prepared to give you a very hearty welcome to Taiwan and will prepare a
place for you to stay while here, and a program including: 1. An interview
with President and Madame Chiang. 2. A speaking tour off the Island, on
which I shall be glad to be your interpreter.
"May our Lord’s blessing be upon
your work!

As you see from the above letter, our
Chinese brethren need our material help. As God has blesses us beyond
measure compared to most people in the world, this is not too much to ask.
I am sure that we will be generous to them as the Lord has prospered us.

gifts, we will in turn be able to give the necessary tools to our friends
throughout the world to effectively wage this battle against our common
enemy.
NEWS FLASHES!!!
The ministry of the Christian
Anti-Communism Crusade continues to expand constantly. The testimony
continues to be published both in America and throughout the world. The
Allen-Bradley Company has not grown weary in well doing, but it continuing
their magnificent work. The most recent areas of publication were the
Seattle, Washington; Portland, Oregon, and Atlanta, Georgia.
FILMS
One form of ministry in which we have
not been very active is the film industry. A film has now been produced by
Gospel Films, Inc. of Muskegon, Michigan, in which I deliver the message.
This film can be shown in many schools where it will not be possible for
me to appear personally. As we enter this new field, the potentials are
very great, and we trust that it will commend itself to our friends and
supporters. The film will be ready soon for distribution. If you desire to

FINAL REMARKS
The foregoing gives some idea of the
expanding ministry of the Christian Anti-Communism Crusade. However much
we do, it is so little in the face of the ever-increasing Communist
danger. No expenditure of energy, no gift of money can be excessive at
this hour. The assets of our enemy are appallingly great. It is when we
remember that our God holds the secret of multiplication and that He can
take our little gifts and multiply them a million times that pessimism
gives way to hope and expectancy. Continue your prayerful support.
