THE CRIMSON SHADOW

CONCLUSION

DR. SCHWARZ ADDRESSES THE TEXAS LEGISLATURE
On March 25, I was privileged to address the Texas Legislature. A long standing precedent was broken when, from the floor, a motion was moved and carried that the address be published in the Texas House Journal.
This address is being reprinted in quantity with the hope that it will receive the widest circulation. Because of its official stature it is ideally suitable for distribution in schools. It makes a valuable supplement to the testimony The Communist Mind given before the Committee on Un-American Activities of the U.S. House of Representatives. I am praying that some patriotic business firm will make it available in quantity to schools and churches as the Allen-Bradley Company of Milwaukee has done with the Congressional Testimony. The American people must be awakened to the true nature of our mortal and malignant Communist enemy if we are to survive.

Every time a copy of the address is read, a brick will be laid in the edifice of freedom. This is something everyone can do. You can give a copy to your friends and acquaintances and ask that they promise to read it. Many will do so, if you ask them, who would not otherwise make the effort. Every mind thus alerted to our peril is a significant contributor to our survival.
If I address one thousand people every day, and convince the thousand, it will take me almost 500 years to reach everyone now living in the United States, and I would go behind at the rate of two and one half million a year as the population increase in three million yearly.
On the other hand, if you or I speak to one person a week and convince that person, and each person thus convinced joins with us in convincing another person each week, we can reach everyone in the world is less than twelve months. Will you wet as your goal the recruitment of one person per week in the struggle for freedom? The address to the Texas Legislature will help you achieve this goal. A copy is enclosed and more are available on request.
I am inspired in the project by the magnificent results that have followed the wide distribution of the Congressional Testimony by the Allen Bradley Company. As indicated, this Texas Legislature address will supplement and not replace the testimony. Everyone who has read the testimony should now read this address. The Allen Bradley Company continues to supply the requests for copies of the testimony which arrive daily in great numbers. It would be difficult to fully assess just how great their contribution to freedom has been and continues to be.

ANDHRA STATE, INDIA
Mrs Ch. Devananda Rao writes:

"During my recent Evangelistic Crusade campaigns in the Jungle Area, I came across many poor children whose piteous condition has stirred my heart. These dear ones cannot have proper food, clothing, housing and education since they are orphans. I have caught the vision of opening a Christian orphanage for these little ones.
"The orphanage is to be opened in June in a rented building. I should like to open it with about 25 children, giving them a Christian home. A monthly donation of $10 would fully support an orphan.
"In Christian love in which Mr. Rao and our babu join me.

"Sincerely your sister in Christ,
"Mrs. Ch. Devananda Rao"

Would you like to adopt an orphan in India? To become a charter member of this program write immediately. The cost is $10 per month. Our Lord said, "Suffer the little children to come unto me."

THE BERLIN CRISIS
The Berlin crises hangs like a mushroom cloud of atomic death over the free world. The question confronting thoughtful minds is, "Will there be war over Berlin?" I do not believe the Berlin crises will lead to a major thermonuclear war. I believe we can trust the Communists to act in terms of their program of world conquest. War over Berlin would be a most serious set-back to their established program. They do not desire war for the two following reasons:

1. They do not wish the real estate of Russia to be destroyed.
2. They do not wish the real estate of America to be destroyed.

They are confident that their present pincer movement of internal sedition, demoralization and economic disruption, coupled with their external program of economic and military encirclement will lead to the surrender of America in the near future, giving them the resources of America intact. They can then deal with the American people at their leisure. Since the objective evidence supports their conviction that this program is advancing on schedule, it would be stupid for them to incinerate the magnificent homes, factories, and buildings which they covet and have plans to utilize. They are crazy but they certainly are not stupid.
What we are seeing in Berlin is the application to the Communist "Dialectic". This teaches that advance is made as nail is hammered into a piece of hard wood. Each blow achieves only a little. When that little has been achieved, it is not customary to leave the hammer on the head of the nail and continue to push. The hammer is removed from the nail. When it has been withdrawn far enough it crashes down for another small gain. At each blow the gain may appear insignificant, but the accumulation produces the desired objective.
Already the Communist gains from the Berlin thrust are becoming apparent. The Summit Conference appears "In the Bag." Khrushchev has been angling for this for years. He remembers well the remarkable gains the Communists have made at all such conferences. Their opponents "negotiate" under tremendous handicaps. They have a moral obligation to keep the agreements to which they commit their countries even in the agreement is disadvantageous. Communist morality demands they break the agreement the moment it is contrary to the program of Communist world domination.
The western statesmen must negotiate under the pressures in their homelands and have the urge to "produce" for the electors. The Communists have no such problems. The electoral crisis confronting Prime Minister Macmillan of England cannot be ignored by President Eisenhower.
To the Communists this Summit Conference is another battle in the universal Class War and they are confident they will win a great victory.

APOLOGIES
In the last News Letter it was stated inadvertently that all members in the Bridgeport group were cleared by the FBI. This was a mistake for which we apologize as the FBI reports to appropriate government agencies and not to private citizens and organizations.

PROJECTS
"Truth Daily Newspaper in Kerala, India"

This project approaches realization. The aim is to begin actual publication in August. George Thomas, Ph.D. writes:

"We have hardly any time to wait as the general elections are so near. We should do our utmost within the next couple of years. I consider it very important that we should go right ahead and turn every stone possible to get the paper started on August 15, 1959. There is an old adage in our language that if we strike at the cobra we should strike only once and that it should be on its head. If we miss this one strike, the cobra is sure to overpower us. I think this applies very well to the Communists. We should strike and strike at its head. Otherwise we are doomed."

Charles Sarvis of Seattle visited George Thomas in Kerala in January. His report is most interesting and enlightening:

"Seeing is believing – and that was exactly my opportunity in January when I visited India.
"After attending a Christian conference in Madras, I flew to Cochin, then traveled by car eighty miles to Kottayam in Kerala State to visit the home of George Thomas. There I found myself in an Communist-controlled land with opportunities on every hand to view the Communist in action. I saw there many bookstands and their red flags with hammer and sickle flying. I heard them shout their menacing slogans as they gathered for a parade. George and I watched the parade as dusk came on and several thousand young people with torches, drums, and firecrackers started their seven mile march. Near the end our taxi driver honked the horn to pull by them and the crowd parted as we started to leave, but before we knew it our car was surrounded by them and angry faces were peering in the windows. Both George and I bowed in prayer for out safety as they knew who George was, and I was an unwelcome American. We were both breathing easier as the crowd parted when some police (Communist also) arrived and we were given room to leave the area and go home.
"The Communist menace looms larger and closer every day. We are losing ground at a dizzy pace. Communism is, beyond a question of a doubt, conquering the world. I believe that at this time India is the most strategic country in the world due to its large population of four hundred million people. There are in India fourteen states with governments resembling our own. At the Southern tip of India lays the most beautiful state of all–Kerala. The Communists were voted into power a year and a half ago under a Democratic system. This was done by flooding the country with literature. There are at this time four daily newspapers, two weekly magazines published by the Communist Party, also twelve leftist newspapers. Kerala has a population of twelve million with a literacy rating of sixty per cent as compared to seventeen per cent over India as a whole. There is not at the present time any publication presenting the truth of the Communist party goals. I firmly believe the answer lies in supplying George Thomas with the equipment necessary to publish a daily newspaper. This paper will print the truth to the people in Kerala of the Communist menace. I believe that by 1992–the next election year in Kerala–that the Communists will be voted out of power which will in turn, turn the tide of Communism in India.
"I enjoyed my stay in India very much, and the lasting impressions of a most gracious and hospitable people are with me. I personally consider George to be the man of the hour for India. He is highly qualified and capable of publishing this urgently needed paper. Time is running out–let’s not delay!"

We have forwarded $15,000 to our friend. The immediate need is $50,000. Please continue to believe, pray and give that the goal be reached. We cannot afford to fail.

CHINA
Andrew K. T. Ming writes from Formosa:–

"The security of the world depends upon the defense of the United States; the security of the United States depends upon the defense of the Pacific Ocean; the security of the Pacific Ocean depends upon the defense of Formosa. The front door for peace of the whole world depends directly upon the back door of Formosa. We have to work hard for our Christ and Truth to keep the people of Free China in Christian faith and firmly opposed to Communism.
"We are planning to print 100,000 volumes of each of your books except Communism–Diagnosis and Treatment, of which we propose to print 150,000 copies. We need $11,000.
"There is not greater joy than serving our Lord in these changing days in Free China.
"Our entire China Anti-Communism Crusade joins me in our kindest regards and love.

"Very respectfully yours.
"Andrew Ming"

We have sent $1,000.00 towards their need. It is a pittance. Please help us send more.

THE CRIMSON SHADOW
Letter from Kodi Skogstad, Milwaukee, Wisconsin:–

"Your film ‘The Crimson Shadow’ is really circulating around Wisconsin. In a few weeks we will be taking the film to Morthern Wisconsin to circulate it through a few small towns. My husband and I have been presenting it on an average of once or twice a week–political groups, veteran’s organizations, men’s and women’s service groups, YMCA, and in private homes for sewing circles and study groups.
"In fact the film is so much in demand–will note this ‘at the time not so humorous incident.’ Someone has borrowed the film from us to show at a noon luncheon meeting. When the canister was returned to me, I looked in and the ‘film was missiing.’ Sabotage? After many frantic phone calls, it was discovered that after the noon meeting a man had simply walked off with the film because he had a group he wanted to show it too.
"At a viewing this week, a man came up to us after the program and said, ‘Such a depressing situation in the world. Why don’t you tell us what to do?’ 1-2-3, bing, bing, bing. All he wanted was a nice easy solution, no fuss, no trouble.
"I was going to keep track of how many times your ‘Crimson Shadow’ has been shown, but I have lost track."

CONCLUSION
Time and space do not allow mention of the contributions and achievements of many who are with outstanding results. Our Missions Director, Jim Colbert, is meeting a great reception wherever he speaks; Bill Strube, secretary and Texas director, is a dynamo of dedication and is literally performing miracles; that unique company, The Allen-Bradley Company of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, continues its exemplary program for the survival of freedom; Rev. White, Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Caldwell, Idaho, has now joined our team on a full-time basis; Jack Danciger of Fort Worth continues his great efforts. These are but a few. Our work is growing on every hand. In this we could take satisfaction is we did not contrast it with the overwhelming progress Communism is making. It is unlikely that the sleep of Khrushchev is as yet troubled by our efforts. His day is coming. As more people throw themselves and their means into the struggle, under the direction of the Spirit of God, with our power multiplied by His power, we advance to Victory.

Fred C. Schwarz
