The formula
of Co-Existence is "Encirclement plus demoralization equals
surrender." The encirclement is fivefold: Numerical, Military,
Economic, Educational, and Psychological. This encirclement proceeds at a
frightening pace. The recent riots in Japan and the dire situation in Cuba
are symptoms of this disease of developing encirclement.
The advocates of
surrender are gaining ground every day. At present they are primarily
located in higher educational and liberal theological circles. The argument
advanced is that it is preferable to accept temporary slavery under
Communism than risk the annihilation of all mankind in an atomic
thermo-nuclear war.
This is a false
dilemma. This is not the choice confronting free peoples. The choice is
surrender or dedication to God and freedom.
To thwart the Communist
objective of conquest, both the external encirclement and the internal
demoralization must be halted. To halt the demoralization, there is
desperate need of a revival of pure religion. An immediate contribution to
this can be made by the personal rededication to Christ of every individual
reading this article. "If My people, who are called by My name, will
humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways,
then will I hear from heaven. I will forgive their sin and will heal their
land." This is the promise of our God.
To stop the
encirclement we must reach the masses of mankind with the message of Truth.
At present they are being deceived by subtle Communist propaganda and
ensnared into the Communist trap. We must reach them with the Trust of
Christ and Freedom.
The Christian
Anti-Communism Crusade is meeting this challenge with a practical program
presented by dedicated, enlightened Christians.
Three strategic areas
of encirclement are: Central America, India, and Japan. We are at work in
these three areas, and we present the following reports outlining the needs
of the areas and what we are doing to meet these needs.
DR. JOOST
SLUIS VISITS CENTRAL AMERICA
Dr. Joost Sluis is an orthopedic surgeon. He
is the regional director of the Northern California Chapter of the Christian
Anti-Communism Crusade. He is a graduate of Massachusetts Institute of
Technology and Harvard Medical School. He is married. His charming wife is
Lois, and their three children are Annie, Billie and Jimmie.
Dr. Sluis here reports
on his recent visit to Central America made in the interest of combating
Communist infiltration:
"From late may until early July, I
had the privilege of making a trip through Central America, parts of South
America and the Caribbean area. The main purpose of the trip was to
explore the nature, pattern, and extent of Communist influence in these
countries and to try to do something about the continuing external
encirclement of the United States by international Communism. I visited
major cities in Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Panama, Peru,
Ecuador, Colombia, Curacao, and Trinidad. Jamaica, as I am writing, is the
next stop before I return to the United States. The method of approach was
made as flexible as possible and consisted of contacting individual
educators, doctors, Christian people of all kinds, businessmen, local folk
and groups. I am most grateful for the opportunities which the Lord
provided and for the warmth, generosity, and hospitality of many
individuals in these countries.
Increase In Communist Strength
Most people, whom I met, agree that there is evidence of a general
increase in Communist influence in each area and especially since the rise
to power of the Castro regime in Cuba. Some are deeply concerned about this,
but many appear unconcerned or indifferent.
Communism In the Universities
A major field of influence and recruitment by the Communist Party is the
student body in the colleges and universities. Latin American universities
are rather loosely organized; academic discipline or supervision is often
lacking and personal guidance or counseling for students is generally poor.
The university government is often controlled by students, rather than by
the faculty or state, and academic standards in several countries are
falling. Not long ago, a general student strike occurred at the University
of Guatemala because a proposal was adopted which denied a student the right
to repeat a course after he had failed five times. Last year, 19 student
strikes occurred at the University of San Marcos, usually about
insignificant issues. The college atmosphere is fertile ground for any
ideology and students usually play a major role in political uprisings, as
in Guatemala’s revolutions and last year’s disturbances in Panama.
I met and spoke to six
university level student groups in Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Panama and
Colombia. There is clear evidence of Communist activity on each campus
through actual Party members, Communist cells or more indirect means. In
meetings with students in Costa Rica and Panama, I was told that many accept
the Marxist doctrines of class warfare and that the United States had grown
rich by exploitation of the people of Latin America.
Communism Deludes Christians
One member of a Christian student group was also a member of the young
Communist league and proudly told me that he had been chosen to represent
the latter at a Cuban youth rally in July. We debated nearly two hours,
especially about Communist economic determinism, and about the fact that
Christ died because God regards every individual as of infinite value. One
of today’s great tragedies is the ruthless exploitation of the idealism,
hopes, and aspirations of our young people by a highly disciplined and
organized small group.
Economic Problems
The social, economic, and political problems are great and vary
considerably from one Latin American country to another. The problem of
illiteracy appears greatest in Guatemala City, are illiterate. Eighty-five
per cent of the population lives outside Guatemala City. The percentage of
illiterates is actually rising because of the population increase. Rather
sharp racial distinctions are evident between Latins and Indians in
Guatemala, between Ecuadorians of Spanish descent and Indians in Ecuador and
between Negroes and East Indians in Trinidad. The contrasts of considerable
wealth and extreme poverty are evident, particularly in Colombia and
Ecuador, although in the former there is a growing but still small middle
class. Hostility between religious groups is more apparent than in the
United States. Many Christian churches are doing an outstanding job in these
countries but the existing problems are often staggering.
Communist Propaganda
Beautiful Communist magazines appear on many news stands, especially in
Mexico and Colombia. In Mexico, the Communist literature reaches Indian
tribes as small as 250 via the mails. A "Russian" weekly radio
broadcast is said to be directed to the Ciuchau Indians of Ecuador in their
own language. In Guatemala, a "Russian" representative was
recently fitting the Indians in the rather remote town of Tactu with eye
glasses.
Medical Work
Members of the medical profession everywhere extended a most cordial
welcome and I made rounds and saw patients in nearly every country. It was
very instructive to see many cases of individual tropical diseases and to
learn that the infant mortality for the first year of life in Guatemala is
over 50 per cent. Many severe, orthopedic deformities are seen in late and
neglected cases. Certain American doctors are doing remarkable work in
remote areas with minimum facilities.
Socialist Trends
The tendency in most countries is toward the nationalization of
industries. A nationalized bank in Costa Rica recently lost over $2,000,000
in an unwise coffee deal and the government power company has had to
increase its rates greatly with resultant considerable public complaints.
Many governments in power tend to be unstable, rather dictatorial and hence
often unwilling to undertake long term projects for the welfare of the
country as a whole. The development of private industry, either foreign or
domestic trends therefore to be difficult. Anti-American feeling exists but
varies considerably.
Program
The problem of Communist advance in the Caribbean, Central and South
America is a serious one. In every country I visited, there are people with
a love of Christ and genuine concern for the people’s spiritual and
material needs. The need is urgent and great to impart to them a depth of
knowledge about the basic nature of Communism and to try to help in their
varied local problems. A group of American students is beginning this summer
to distribute 10,000 copies of Dr. Schwarz’s book, "The Heart, Mind,
and Soul of Communism" in Spanish throughout Mexico. We need to develop
Spanish films, simple literature, radio and TV programs.
The opportunities are
great and unlimited. I hope many of you will join me in prayer for Central
and South America and that you will be led to give of yourself and your
resources for the great tasks that lie ahead."–Joost Sluis, M.D.
THE VOICE OF
KERALA
George Thomas, publisher of the daily
newspaper, The Voice of Kerala, in India, received his Ph.D. from the
University of Washington after five years of study there. His brothers,
Joseph and John, are following in his footsteps by studying at the same
university. The following account of the work of the daily newspaper we have
been privileged to assist in India is given by Joseph Thomas:
Voice of Kerala: A Modern Day Miracle
1957 was a crucial year for the Republic of India. A Republic that had
drawn up a constitution upholding democracy and democratic rule. Did it
operate under democratic rule and practice? Yes, indeed! Elections were held
in a purely democratic manner. All fourteen states elected representatives
to govern their respective states and all were democratic, with the
exception of Kerala, in the southwest corner of India. Kerala, the most
beautiful, the most fertile, and most heavily populated of all, with over a
million highly educated and skilled inhabitants among the unemployed. A
state rich in Thorium, the highly expensive but most useful element used in
atomic experiments, and yet – a state with such abject poverty that little
use was made of their natural resources. A state with too little land to
till that there might be rice and other life-giving foods to feed the hungry
multitudes. What happened?
In 1957 the Communists
were elected to office by popular vote. Never before in the history of
Communism was their party elected to office through democratic means.
Aggression and violence had been their usual tactics. But in Kerala, the
Christians, Hindus and Moslems alike were uninformed about the dangers of
Communism. They unanimously accepted without doubt, the promised Utopia. The
Communists took advantage of the poverty and made glowing predictions that
brought about the overwhelming victory.
Two years elapsed after
their election but not without events. They strengthened their party
machinery by forbidding law enforcement officers to intrude when political
arguments arose. These men were ordered to become deaf and mute to any
heated discussion or violence. It was quite obvious that their reason for
this step was that invariably, one of the two parties in question would
prove to be the Communist. This was their opportunity to redress their
sorrows and to achieve their rights among the democratic people.
Text books that
eulogized Mao and Khrushchev were introduced which made fertile soil for the
seeds of Communist propaganda. Every chance was seized to promote their
cause. Criminals were released from prison and allowed to terrorize the
citizenry. In place of the promised Utopia, Kerala became bedlam.
Demonstrators voiced their disapproval on streets, but those in authority
refused to give a listening ear to their complaints. Violence was resorted
to and 150,000 were arrested, others killed in street fights, and thousands
beaten unmercifully by party members. On one occasion 17 people were killed
when crowds were demonstrating protest in the ‘passive resistance’
manner of Ghandi.
It was in such a
setting that the "Voice of Kerala" came into being. It was
immediately labeled "capitalistic enterprise," by the Reds, but
the history of this daily newspaper is unique. God provided the capital
through His humble servant, Dr. Fred Schwarz, and Dr. George Thomas became
the Editor-in-Chief.
The daily output of the
"Voice of Kerala" grew from 10,000 in August, ‘59 to 28,000
copies at the present time, with a reading coverage of ten times that
number. Statistics indicate that at least 10 persons read each copy of the
"Voice of Kerala." Every day of the week the "Voice of Kerala"
penetrates into the homes of Hindus, Roman Catholics, Moslem and Protestants
alike with its three-fold objective: Education, Dedication and
Evangelization for Christian freedom and democracy.
Kerala is a highly
literate state, nine out of ten children in Kerala attend school and 60% of
the people read and write their own Malayan language. The motto of
"Voice of Kerala" is "Truth be Victorious" and Communist
literature and propaganda is replaced by its readable and lucid articles.
The "Voice of Kerala" excels all papers in Kerala state in both
content and quality and has a profound influence upon the lives and thinking
of 280,000 people now.
This direct and
indirect influence upon the masses of Kerala was evidenced last February 1st
when the people again marched to the polls to elect a governing body. This
was permissable because of the timely interference of Prime Minister Nehru,
who visited the restless state and ousted the Reds from office. This was an
undreamed of miracle and brought hope and courage to the depressed. On
election day, the congress party won with a 57% majority over the eager
Communists. The margin was uncomfortably narrow and since that day the
Kremlin supporters have used every diabolical device and cunning craftiness
to erase past injustices from the minds of the people. They advocate the
theory that with time, the people soon forget the cruelty of their
oppressors.
A notable question is
often quoted: "What are you doing to improve the economy of the
people?" That has proven a colossal problem in Kerala. With over one
million educated people eking out a living by doing menial tasks, or wholly
unemployed, plus the millions of illiterates who are likewise unemployed the
situation is grave. The "Voice of Kerala" has somewhat scraped the
surface in this matter as a gallant crew of over 120 employees working
inside the plant. These one hundred and twenty support 1,200 persons. Aside
from these men, agents numbering more than five hundred support ten times
their number. Indirectly several other groups are supported or partially
supported in the dispensing of "The Voice of Kerala." This is a
greatly appreciated contribution to the state economy. An endeavor is
underway at this time to create small economic units that make themselves
self-supporting.
How is this being done?
The answer to this question would make the average publisher blush. The
machinery and methods used at present are primitive and unsatisfactory. The
need for a Rotary press is urgent. If the above benefits could be produced
with antiquated and outdated machinery, what could be accomplished if a
Rotary press were obtainable?
To crown all these
efforts, the only solution to the problems of the world is Jesus Christ, the
Son of the Living God!
With this in mind, the
"Voice of Kerala" presents a Gospel message every Sunday. Homes
that have been closed to other attempts to present Christ are open for this
printed matter. Over 700 letters of inquiry were received at Voice of Kerala
headquarters in a 7 month period of time. A full time Evangelist is employed
to correspond with those who desire to know Him. Follow-up work is handled
methodically and every 6 months a new church body is born for the Kingdom of
God. Is this not marvelous and rewarding for our sacrifice?
With all humility, I
boldly say that this work in South India is the greatest Evangelistic
endeavor of the 20th century to be shouldered by an organization
like the Christian Anti-Communism Crusade. Eternity alone will reveal the
extent of their endeavors.
REPORT
ON JAPAN
The dramatic events leading to the
cancellation of the trip of President Eisenhower to Japan are still fresh in
our minds. A mob of 1,000,000 rioting in the streets is a fearful sight. The
student groups is always the most successful field of Communist agitation.
The Rev. James Colbert, Director of Missions of the Christian Anti-Communism
Crusade, on his recent ‘round-the-world trip, visited Japan and was
overwhelmed by what he saw. The following are extracts from a letter he
wrote to a friend after his return:
"Japan is like a new land awakened
for the first time. As you know, it was destroyed twice, once by
earthquake in 1923, and by allied bombers in 1945, yet, it has rebuilt
into an industrial giant and business is booming. Since World War II,
Tokyo has become the largest city in the world. There are ten million
people who live in Tokyo and twenty-six millions who live in the environs
of Tokyo. The Japanese students become the compassion of your heart. They
spend most of their time studying. They live for an education, not so much
to improve themselves culturally, as to give themselves a better chance
for employment and economic improvement.
"Suicide is the
greatest single cause for death in Japan and 80 per cent of the suicides
are among the student class. In a religious survey they determined that 85
per cent of the college students had no religious convictions. They polled
a Buddhist seminary and found that only 35 per cent of the students of the
seminary had faith in Buddhist religion. It seems that this is a
generation of no faith. Since World War II there has been a great deal of
confusion. The young people are no longer faithful to the old ways. They
are dead game for the Communists, and the Communists have gone to the
campuses of Japan. They are buying up every opportunity. They are
disseminating Moscow-spawned propaganda and are attempting to build Red
cells. The students of Japan are not making hasty decisions, but they are
listening and thinking. If this program of godless Communism continues
uncontested, Japan will fall into the hands of Communism. The bright side
is that these young people, who are listening and thinking, are just as
susceptible to truth and Christianity and the message of Christian
liberty. In Tokyo alone there are 250,000 college students. They are
untouched by adequate messages to expose the true nature of Communism and
presentation of the Christian message on college level. This is a project
we want to undertake.
"We have contact
in Tokyo with a Christian group name the Inter-Varsity Christian
Fellowship which has quarters near the university center where 120,000
students pass each day. If we can place the tools in the hands of this
fine Christian group, they will be able to do an effective joy among the
many thousands of students in Tokyo. I hope that this initial project will
commend itself to your people. At a little later date we are hopeful of
publishing a daily newspaper based upon Christian principals resenting the
truth for circulation among the students of Japan."
STUDENT RIOTS
It is not only in Japan that the
Communists have been successful in fermenting student riot, they were
successful in fermenting riots in San Francisco when the Un-American
Activities Committee of the United States House of Representatives held
hearings in that city. Here is an eye witness account of these riots
prepared by seven ministers who attended the sessions:
(A joint statement by
Dr. G Archer Weniger, of Oakland, Rev. Don Watson of Oakland, Dr. H Austin
of San Francisco, Rev. Robert F. Hakes of Alameda, Dean William G. Bellshaw
of the San Francisco Baptist Seminary, Dr. H. O. Van Gilder of the Western
Baptist Bible College, and Dr. Arno Weniger of San Francisco).
More than a dozen
ministers were in attendance at the Congressional hearings of the House
Un-American Activities Committee in San Francisco on May 12 and 13, in the
Supervisors Chambers in the City Hall. What we witnessed was utterly
fantastic. The shameful demonstration against law and order and against this
duly constituted Committee of the Congress defies description. We sat in the
rear of the room on a raised platform where we could easily observe the
proceedings, right in the midst of the student demonstrators. We studied the
crowd carefully for hours and could easily discern which were the
masterminds of the mob riots. It is our certain conviction that this
indefensible demonstration against law and order was conceived, planned and
directed by a few hard-core Communist agitators who were carrying out their
text-book orders on insurrection with classic success. Leaders of the mob
included faculty members and well-known leftist lawyers for the
fifth-amendment Communists.
We were sitting where
we were able to observe the giving of instruction by the riot leaders who
had gained access to the room. The "Daily Californian," which was
distributed widely at the scene, gave explicit instructions on the front
page of the Thursday issue on exactly how to harass the Committee. They were
told to laugh out loud at every incident that appeared to be amusing in
order to make the Congressmen look ridiculous. These well-disciplined
mobsters laughed on the dotted line and obeyed their masters to the last
jeer. We watched a national committeeman for the Party line up a dozen
Communists near the railing and throw every sneer, invective, abusive
language, vile profanity, and fiendish charge at the Congressmen they could
conceive. For nearly fifteen minutes at one point, this lawless crowd of
students from the University, together with Party cadres, had the Chambers
almost in their control. The students, comprising the rear third of the
audience, stood up on their seats and yelled, jeered, hissed, and scoffed at
the Congressmen. It was almost complete breakdown of law and order. We
witnessed more violations of the law in fifteen minutes than we have seen in
fifteen years! The only criticisms we have of the police authorities were of
allowing this element to make such a mockery out of law and order, without
jailing everyone of the leaders.
The height of their
devilish hypocrisy was reached when they had the consummate nerve to profane
the national anthem by singing it at the peak of their demonstration, and
giving expression to their treasonable delight by singing "Mine Eyes
Have Seen the Glory of the Coming of the Lord." The depth of their
deceit was reached when this mob element put their hand over their heart and
pledged allegiance to the flag. We shall never forget the hiss and goos that
greeted Mr. Arens when he first mentioned the name of God in connection with
one who broke from the Party.
We are at a loss to
understand how clergymen, such as Bishop James Pike, could give any aid and
comfort to this lawless kind of activity by statements deriding the
Committee, and by allowing his assistant pastor to address one of their
despicable rallies.
We came away from this
hearing absolutely convinced of the overwhelming necessity of continuing the
House Committee on Un-American Activities. No free agent could view the
language without being impressed with the fairness, justice, and dedication
to a thankless, but positively necessary task. Chairman Edwin Willis was
unusually temperate and patient. We have nothing but unbounded admiration
for Richard Arens, Committee Counsel, whose skill and understanding of this
perilous conspiracy was a blessing to behold. We apologize to these devoted
public servants from Congress for the devilish and deceitful conduct of an
infinitesimally small but, alarmingly arrogant segment of this area, who are
willing to be tools of the Communist conspiracy which would make a shambles
out of the liberty which marks this great nation and the land of the free
and the home of the brave.
Film of the Riots
These riots have been recorded on film. A magnificent film production
has been produced by the Coalition of Patriotic Societies and is entitled
"Operation Abolition." I do not know when the viewing of any film
has moved me as much. My first reaction was to order the purchase of several
for the use of our Crusade. In this film the Communist leaders of the riot
are shown in all their arrogance of evil and are identified by name and
record. Contact us for further information concerning the showing of these
films.
STUDENTS
FOR FREEDOM
American students can respond to the challenge
of freedom as well as to the challenge of Communism. High school groups are
springing up in many areas of the country under various names but all
seeking to retain the American heritage of freedom. One such club is the
Veritas Club of Lubbock, Texas. They are students at the Lubbock High
School. Here is a photograph of the three top officers: Roya Harris, Danny
Hood, and Barbara Stone.
Below is a portion of a
report on this group published by the Lubbock Sunday Sun, June 5, Lubbock,
Texas.
Teen-age Group in Lubbock Forms Truth
Club to Combat Communism
"Encouraging evidence that today’s youth is fully awake to the
dangers of Communism, and is determined to do something about it, is being
given by a group of Lubbock teen-agers.
"The group has
completed an organization which has been given the name "Veritas"
club. "Veritas" is a Latin word meaning "truth." Its
purpose is to do everything possible to insure that older teen-agers today
are fully informed concerning the true objectives of Communism. Those
basic objectives include the enslavement of the free world by the
Communist dictatorship centered in Moscow.
"Although the
club has held only two regular meetings, it already boasts a membership of
more than 40. Most of the members are boys and girls who will be juniors
and seniors in the Lubbock high schools in September."
We may take satisfaction in the formation
of this group as indicated by the following report from Bill R. Neel of the
Amicable Life Insurance Company, Lubbock, Texas. "You will notice that
the main portion of their emblem is the ‘Cross of Christ.’ Their
meetings are conducted in a ‘Christian atmosphere.’"
ANDHRA
STATE
Our work continues in the State of Andhra as well as Kerala. It is here we
were privileged to start the Indian Christian Crusade under the leadership
of Devananda Rao. Concerning the situation there he writes:
"Most probably within 18 months we
are going to face a great danger! That is our General Elections for the
State Governments and the Central Government. As you know, the Communists
are concentrating their work in Andhra State and West Bengal State to
capture them during the next elections. And, if we, Andhras, sleep these
18 months, I am sure that the Communist Government would definitely rule
us with all their brutality and murders. So, during our recent Crusade
Workers’ Conference we have decided to work more actively in this line
to save our home State from this great danger of Communism. As you know,
there are about 29,000 villages in our greater Andhra State with 20
districts. It is my firm and burning desire to reach as many villages as
possible with the Anti-Communist message explaining the heart, mind and
soul of Communism that innocent villagers would clearly understand that
they might defeat Communism. We are planning to reach these thousands of
villages before the devil, Communism, spoils the precious minds of these
hundreds of thousands of villagers."
WHAT IS THE
CHRISTIAN ANTI-COMMUNISM CRUSADE?
One of the most frequent questions that we are asked is "What is the
Christian Anti-Communism Crusade, What is it doing, Who is associated with
it, How can I join it?" This letter is an attempt to give a brief
answer.
The Christian
Anti-Communism Crusade is a non-profit organization incorporated in the
State of Iowa, dedicated to waging relentless war against the heart of
Communism and its false foundation in relation to God, man and freedom. It
is Christian and unashamedly adheres to the traditional Christian doctrines
of the Bible. Its program consists of education, evangelism and a challenge
to personal dedication to the cause of freedom.
The Christian
Anti-Communism Crusade has had a rather unusual development. Most
organizations begin with financial backing by well-known national officers.
In our case, the reverse has been true. We began very humbly in the year
1953, and have grown step by step as here and there individuals have heard
the message had have been the ministry and became aware of its value and
associated themselves with it. Our work involved publication of a
considerable number of booklets, one of which is "The Heart, Mind, and
Soul of Communism," which has been translated into many languages and
taught in schools around the world.
We are utilizing radio
and as many media of communication as possible in our work.
From time to time we
conduct Anti-Communism schools to equip students with the knowledge
necessary to adequately oppose Communism and preserve freedom.
A complete set of my
booklets consisting of The Heart, Mind, and Soul of Communism, Communist
Interpretation of Peace, The Christian Answer to Communism, Communism–Diagnosis
and Treatment, will be sent to you for a contribution of $2 or more.
Requests for these should be sent to the Christian Anti-Communism Crusade,
P.O. Box 890, Long Beach, California. I urge you to secure these and not
only read them, but study them thoroughly so that you may be prepared to
intelligently discuss the subject.
The work is now
world-wide in scope, and we are supporting National Christian
Anti-Communisms in India and publishing and broadcasting in many other
countries. Our motto has been "Act first, and talk about it
later," so, unfortunately, we do not have available beautifully
prepared, expensive publications concerning ourselves.
The officers of the
Christian Anti-Communism Crusade are on the last page. You may write to any
of them personally or investigate them in any way.
Recently our work took
a big stride forward, when the Allen-Bradley Company of Milwaukee, under the
leadership of the Chairman of the Board, Mr. Harry Bradley, published my
testimony on the Communist Mind, given to the House Un-America Activities
Committee in a large number of major newspapers in America. The response to
this message has been overwhelming. The Allen-Bradley Company provides
copies for interested people, 25 to an individual, and unlimited copies to
churches and schools. The demand has been such that well over a half million
copies have been sent out in answer to requests. It is now being taught in
many high schools and on College campuses.
It has been translated
into Spanish, and we are trusting we may be able to distribute it to the
students of the Universities of Central and South America. It has been
translated into Chinese. The Chinese Christian Anti-Communism Crusade has
been formed and they are distributing it on Mainland China through the
medium of the Free China Air Force. It has been translated into Malayalam,
the language of Kerala, the Communist controlled state in India, and it is
having a very wide distribution. We are grateful to God for the action of
the Allen-Bradley Company in initiating this tremendous service.
We welcome new members
to the Christian Anti-Communism Crusade. You can do much to help us, and we
have much to learn from you. We need you. Annual membership is $10 a year,
life membership, $100. The Crusade is still in its infancy. By God’s
grace, a virile future is ahead. Please write for any further information
you may desire and, when your questions are answered, give your practical
support.

WHAT CAN I
DO?
Frequently the question is asked, "What
can I do?" After attending a seminar conducted by our secretary, Bill
Strube, one man provided an answer by outlining what he had done. Here is
his answer:
Already have written Congressmen.
Written Radio Station on an Editorial
Written two letters to Newspapers
Sent out literature
Wrote for 25 copies of the testimony of Dr. Schwarz published by the
Allen-Bradley Company
Passed out same and instructed others to do the same
Wrote for books on Communism from Government Printing Office
Read all the notes and books I secured at the Seminar
Attended a "Study Group" meeting with Mr. Spurlock
Trying to get a study group going in a Methodist Church in Minnesota
through my father
Publicized the two Seminars now in progress
Will take my office force to Seminar or rather to the talk Mr. Strube will
give at Pasadena Parent-Teacher Association
Will attend Seminar at Chimney Rock Church and bring a friend Thursday
night
Wrote 90 letters to friends publicizing the last Seminar and Dr. Schwarz’s
talk at the University of Houston.
Making plans to start a study group, etc.

STUDY
GROUPS
Study groups are springing up everywhere. We only know of the existence of a
few of them. We hope to start publishing a quarterly report on the
activities of study groups this fall. We wish to list all groups so that
they can contact each other and interchange ideas. To help us in this
project please fill in and return the following information:

FINANCE
It is obvious that a program such as we are
carrying out requires constant and growing financial support. A contribution
to our work is a real investment in Gospel of Christ and the preservation of
home and family, church, and national and individual liberty. With
confidence we ask you to continue to stand by us in this battle. The
magnitude of the challenge demands mighty faith, magnificent courage, and
complete Christian dedication. "Be not weary in well doing for in due
time we shall reap if we faint not," is the promise of our Lord.
