CONCLUSION

LESSONS OF THE CUBAN CRISIS
Khrushchev, the Communist, may congratulate himself upon the achievements that have resulted from his Cuban crisis, which he created and abated. He has revealed remarkable skill in the practical application of Communist theoretical principles and has proved that his present position as No. 1, in the hierarchy of Communist power is no accident.
To see the Cuban situation in clear perspective, the entire situation must be surveyed from the Communist viewpoint taking full account of the Communist objectives, methods and strategic principles.

The Communist Objective
There is little controversy concerning the basic Communist objective. It is the conquest of the United States as the culminating act in the drama of world conquest.
This objective of conquest of the United States is modified by certain limiting factors. Conquest should be achieved:

1. Without the destruction of the Russian heartland.
2. Without the destruction of the United States.
3. Without the destruction of the Communist leadership.
4. As soon as possible.

Little argument should be needed to convince the skeptics of these four limiting factors in the Communist program of conquest. They are enormously proud of their materialistic achievements on Russian soil and are unlikely to look with equanimity upon their destruction. They are aware of the American landscape with its fine homes, magnificent factories, schools, hospitals, and public buildings and would certainly prefer to take these intact so that they can be used and enjoyed rather than to fall heir to a heap of radio active rubble. Khrushchev has stated that he hopes to live to see the day that the red flag covers all the earth. He would prefer not to die by either artificial or natural causes before world conquest is consummated.

Thermo-Nuclear War
Accepting that these are the Communist objectives, there is one eventuality that must be avoided at all cost as it would sound the death knell to the possibility of achieving the desired results. This eventuality that must be avoided is thermo-nuclear war. Such a war would devastate both Russia and the United States, almost certainly kill the Communist leaders, and cast the utmost doubt upon the goal of conquest ever being achieved. We may, therefore, accept it as a basic premise that the Communists will go to every possible length to avoid thermo-nuclear war, not from cowardice, but from devotion to their objective.

Method of Communist Conquest
Before stating the Communist program for the conquest of the United States, it is advisable to dispel rather widely held delusions concerning the Communist method of reaching their objective. The Communist purpose is not the conversion of the American people to Communism. They do not foresee the day when the majority of the American people will on polling day elect a majority of Communist candidates to office. They are fully aware that, should Communism prevail in the United States, it will be contrary to the wishes of the overwhelming majority of the American citizens. They are confident that American citizens will be as helpless to cast off the Communist shackles as the citizens of East Germany have thus far proved themselves to be. There will not even be the need for an iron curtain or a Berlin wall as there will remain no place of refuge to which to flee.

The Internal Communist Danger
Because of the prevalence of the delusion that Communism aims to convince a large number, if not a majority of Americans a false optimism is generated because of the smallness of the Communist Party. University professors and other ridicule the concept that the forces of internal Communism constitute any great peril because the ranks of the Communist Party are not bulging with members. They claim that Communism has lost its mass appeal to the students, workers, and other classes of America. While this is true, the conclusion drawn that the internal Communist threat is therefore insignificant, is completely false. If the Communist program for the conquest of the United States depended upon the voluntary acceptance of Communism by a large number of American citizens, this conclusion would be valid. Since this is not the method of Communist conquest, arguments based on the smallness of the membership of the Communist Party are irrelevant.
Frequently I am asked, "Which do you consider the bigger danger, the internal or the external Communist threat?" Sometimes I reply with this question, "If you were in a ship at sea and it was torpedoed and sinking, which would you consider the bigger danger, the water inside or the water outside?" The Communist conspiracy within America is simply the bridgehead of the international Communist conspiracy. Any attempt to consider it in isolation is asinine. If Hitler still ruled Germany and controlled much of Europe and had a vast military, economic, and propaganda apparatus dedicated to the conquest of the world, the malignancy of the American Nazi Party would be multiplied a thousand times. Hitler is dead and Naziism has lost its military, economic, and propaganda base, but the international Communist movement controls a billion people and has a truly formidable military, economic, propaganda, and subversive apparatus. In the light of this it is foolish to underestimate the significance of its representatives within the United States.

Real Communist Program Co-Existence
Having now stated that the Communists are seeking neither to destroy America in thermo-nuclear war nor to convert Americans to an acceptance of Communism, it is necessary to describe their actual program. It is the progressive surrender of America in the face of military blackmail after America is externally encircled and internally demoralized.
The official title given to the program of conquest by progressive surrender is "co-existence."

Encirclement
This Communist strategy has been achieving outstanding results: The Communist leadership surveys the world scene with rapture. They can point with pride to successes greater than any history records. The simple statistics are awesome. Lenin commenced Bolshevism with about 17 supporters in 1903. He conquered Russia with about 40,000 in 1917, and today the Leninist parties have conquered more than one billion of the inhabitants of the earth. Their offensive forces are moving in many areas. They are on the attack in southeast Asia, in India, in Africa, and in Latin America. Cuba has been conquered and consolidated as a Communist base for the infiltration, subversion and conquest of the Western Hemisphere. However, we may rationalize and whistle in the dark concerning problems within the Communist empire, including the alleged conflict between Russia and China, the alleged conflict between Khrushchev and the Stalinists, the problems of agricultural production and the headlong flight from Communist countries, these objective achievements remain. If such problems would prevent Communist conquest, Communism would not now rule over one billion people as such problems have been present from the beginning, often in a more acute form. The phase of Communist encirclement is obviously proceeding well.

International Demoralization
The term "demoralization" is used in its widest sense. It is not necessary that the American people become addicts of alcohol, drugs or pornography. It is merely that they accept sensory experience as the highest of all values. The simple fact of living then becomes the most precious thing. No issue could be so important that it would merit the surrender of life. Once this principle is established, no one would be willing to die for country, faith or the survival of human liberty. To live at any cost becomes the accepted norm.
Once this attitude prevails, Communism has won. All it needs to reveal this victory is to create a series of crises in which the American people are offered the choice–grant this concession or risk death, probably atomic death. Granted the acceptance of the foregoing principles, the response is obvious. However unpleasant the concession may be, the price of possible death is too high to pay so the concession is granted. By a series of such concessions, the Communists plan to change the power balance of the world until America is isolated, encircled, and threatened with military destruction. At this point they are confident the final act of surrender will take place and they will achieve the objective of conquest without destroying Russia, America or being destroyed themselves.

When Is America Ready to Surrender?
Timing is important and the Communists need to know when America has reached the point of surrender. Precipitate action may involve the calamity of thermo-nuclear war, whereas undue waiting may deprive the Communist leadership of personal enjoyment of the fruits of victory. It is probably that heated debate on this question has been taking place among the Communist leaders. When individuals are utterly convinced of their own theories, they tend to observe only those things that support these theories and agents, knowing the wishes of their masters, tend to report what the masters wish to hear. Doubtless the Communist leaders were receiving many reports which would indicate to them that America was ripe for surrender. They heard of the outcry for unilateral disarmament, the protests of so-called peace movements, the refusal to build atomic shelters, and they noted repeated acts of indecision by authority in the face of Communist advance. Was America ready to surrender? It was decided to apply a test.

Baking a Cake
When the housewife is baking a cake, it is important for her to know the precise point at which the cake is baked and ready for consumption. She applies a test. Opening the oven door, a straw or toothpick is inserted into the cake and withdrawn. If the straw emerges clean, the cake is baked. If cake mixture adheres to the straw, it shows future baking is necessary. The oven door is closed and the process continues.

Missiles Cuba
The placing of the offensive missiles in Cuba may be likened to a test to see whether the American cake was baked and ready for consumption. If America did not take whatever steps were necessary to assure the removal of these missiles but limited herself to mere verbal protest, it would show the Communists that America was already defeated and that no provocation, however great, would lead to resolute action. They would now feel free to step up their pressure all around the world with confidence that there was no danger of thermo-nuclear war and that each crisis would result in an American surrender and that final conquest could be consumated in a very brief period indeed.

The Result of the Test
The Communists received their answer but it was not the answer for which they had hoped. The reaction proved the American surrender cake was by no means baked. The resolute stand, involving actions and not mere words, taken by the American President and fully supported by the American people proved this. The American people were not ready to be consumed by the Communist power. Although the action taken in establishing a blockade seemed to risk the horrors of thermo-nuclear war, the American people resolutely supported the President in his courageous stand, being willing to die so that human freedom might live.

The Reaction
Having received the answer, the Communists applied the principles of Communist strategy and Khrushchev revealed himself as the mast of the dialectic. "History is on our side. We will bury you."

Applied Dialectic
The philosophy of Communism is called "Dialectical Materialism". This philosophy, frequently shortened to "diamat", is taught in every Communist school throughout the entire world. It teaches Communists that they must progress to their fixed goal by a series of advances and retreats. Progress is made in the same way as a nail is driven. It is foolish to bring the hammer crashing down and continue pushing. When one blow is spent, the hammer must be withdrawn. An ignorant observer watching the act of withdrawal of the hammer might conclude that the objective of driving in the nail had been discarded. The observer, familiar with the process, would know that the act of withdrawal was as essential to the driving in of the nail as the downward thrust.
This dialectic teaches the Communists the importance of retreat; that retreat is an essential part of advance. A Communist commander, who cannot stage a strategic retreat, is unworthy of the name of Communist. Stalin, quoting Lenin, says, "The revolutionary parties must complete their education. They have learned to attack. This knowledge must be supplement with the knowledge of how to retreat properly. Victory is impossible unless they have learned both how to attack and how to retreat properly." Having learned what he needed to know Khrushchev could now be expected to apply the Communist principle of strategic retreat.
President Kennedy made his speech announcing the Cuban blockade on October 22. On October 25, we conducted a public meeting in Anaheim, California. The Rev. Robert Shuler of Garden Grove said to me, "The most serene members of my congregation are the graduated of your school. They understand the Communist dialectic. The others tend to be hysterical. You are frequently accused of spreading hysteria and despair. In this instance you have spread confidence and serenity."

Prediction
Speaking in San Diego during the Cuban crisis, I predicted that acting as a Communist, and applying the dialectic, Khrushchev would do this: He would make some dramatic announcement that would remove the dreadful fear of thermo-nuclear war hovering over mankind and in so doing win for himself the reputation of a man of peace. The following day the announcement was made that Khrushchev had said he would remove the missiles from Cuba and accept international inspection. He thus followed the predictable course of a dedicated, theoretical Communist and must have enhanced his reputation and prestige with enlightened Communists throughout the world. Simultaneously he received an unprecedented outburst of respect and affection from friend and enemy.

Dialectical Application
To understand how the dialectic works in a specific application, assume that a man, his wife and daughter are cornered by a crazed gunman who holds them at the point of his gun. He announced to the man, "I am going to shoot your daughter first. Following that I propose to shoot your wife. When they are both dead, I plan to shoot you." Can we conceive the emotional tension and mental anguish experienced by such a man? Rapidly he considers the possibilities of action and wonders whether it would be wiser to wait with the hope that the gunman may relax his guiard or whether he should stake everything on one frantic rush. He finally reaches the point where he is preparing to rush the man and risk the consequences. The gunman observes this and suddenly relaxes and says with a smile, "Let us have a conference. Lets talk it over. Give me a thousand dollars and I will forget the whole thing." What a relaxation of tension. A transformation comes over the world. Life with its glory replaces the impending doom of death. In the emotional release it would be natural to feel gratitude and affection for the man who, by his change of attitude, has granted these gifts.
Once a crisis is established, its cause tends to be forgotten. When an individual resolves this crisis, even though he deliberately created it, he tends to reap a reward of appreciation and affection for his final act.
This illustrates the principles applied by Khrushchev. Khrushchev, not Castro, created the Cuban crisis. Khrushchev supplied the missiles, the ships to carry them, the technicians to install them, and the troops to guard them. Nevertheless, when he removed them, he changed his image throughout the entire world. In the minds of many, he immediately became the most peace loving and reasonable of all the Communist leaders and great hope for the security of mankind. This attitude applied not only to neutrals, but to bitter enemies of Communism. It may have been expected that Betreand Russell would state that Khrushchev was the Saviour of Mankind, but who could have expected that Anti-Communist, George Sokolsky would also have knelt before the Khrushchev shrine in adoration. Nevertheless, this amazing statement appeared in the Los Angeles Herald Examiner Friday, November 16, in the column of George Sokolsky:

"Let us look at the other side of the coin, Khrushchev is fighting for his political life and it is now clear that the Communist congress on Nov. 19 will definitely decide whether he continues in office or not.
"Should Khrushchev be demoted or sent into exile, it would mean that the Stalinist party will be in control. Should Khrushchev remain the leader of European communism, it is likely that Soviet Russia will support the American position in Cuba with arms and that Soviet Russia will support Nehru in partnership with the United States and Great Britain."

The idea of this joint Russian Communist and American Capitalist force invading Cuba is a fascinating one. It will pose certain problems as to who will be the commander-in-chief of this force and whether the chaplains and political commissars will share the same facilities for their services and atheistic indoctrination courses. This concept approaches the limits of the ludicrous. The walls of the Kremlin must be rocking with laughter while Khrushchev is acclaimed for his dialectical skill.

Who Won the Victory?
Both America and the Communists can claim to have had victories in the crisis but the overall victory has obviously bone to the Communists. America can claim that the offensive missiles and aircraft have been removed from Cuba. Provided we accept the Communist assurance that this has been done, this is a victory of no mean magnitude. America revealed to the world that she possesses courage to act and is not the paper tiger portrayed in Communist propaganda. The situation revealed that if they are given courageous and intelligent leadership the American people and the governments of Latin America will rally and give wholehearted support.
Nevertheless, the overall Communist position in the Western Hemisphere has been strengthened. Three months ago every informed citizen was gravely concerned because of the Cuban situation. This concern was not due to the presence in Cuba of offensive missiles but because Cuba was the focus of infection for the Communist disease in the Western Hemisphere. Cuba was the scourge of many countries. It recruited, trained, and directed subversive agents; It also financed subversion through its diplomatic offices; Its radio network ceaselessly beamed propaganda voicing hatred of the U.S.A. and encouraging revolt against legitimate government; It provided a reservoir of weapons and military personnel for any Communist revolt in any western country. Today this situation continues with a guarantee of security given by the President of the United States. Is it any wonder that it is reported that the Castroites through all Latin America are jubilant? A great victory has truly been won.
America seems to have clarified what she will accept in the Western Hemisphere. Any country may:

1. Establish a Communist government.
2. Destroy all the basic liberties of its own people.
3. Fill up it prisons and concentration camps and utilize its firing squads.
4. Expropriate American property without compensation.
5. Establish a military treaty with Russia and Cuba.
6. Receive vast quantities of Communist weapons including tanks, fighter aircraft and shortrange missiles.
7. Receive large numbers of the troops of Communist countries.

These things may be done with impunity. The impermissible is to receive missiles and bomber aircraft which could deliver an atomic or thermonuclear attack on the United States.
Certainly no sensible and enlightened person can survey this situation with equanimity.

The Future
The Communists are continuing to bake the cake. The vast program that existed prior to the Cuban crisis is continuing. The immediate military challenge has been met. Very little is being done to meet the ideological and subversive challenge. Faced by the flood of Communist literature is Latin America, the recruitment of Communist students in the universities and the formation of guerrilla revolutionary units, action must be taken in all these fields with the same resolution and willingness to sacrifice that was shown during the military phase of the Cuban crisis.

MEETING AT UCLA
Few experiences are more exhilarating than speaking to a large group of university students. The students are a critical and a responsive audience. It is not unusual for many of them to be somewhat prejudiced because they have been misinformed. In spite of this, most of them respond to a message which is reasoned and logical.
On October 17, I addressed the Associated Students of UCLA. A great crowd gathered. A small groups of opponents distributed leaflets attacking me. These leaflets were an insult to the intelligence of the students because the selection of fragments of my statements and their combination into a biased and false frame was obvious.
The audience listened with rapt attention and during the discussion period the questions were penetrating but not unfriendly.
The following letter was received from the chairman following the meeting:

"Associated Students-UCLA
308 Westwood Boulevard, L.A. 24, Calif.
October 18, 1962

"Dear Dr. Schwarz:
"On behalf of the Associated Students of UCLA, I would like to thank you for your interest in our Speakers’ Program. As evidenced by the largest attendance at any of our presentations this semester the interest in your speech yesterday was considerable. You provided a controversial subject with a logical and reasoned approach, which was respected and enjoyed by all shades of opinion. We appreciate your time and effort involved.
"We hope we may have the opportunity of hearing you speak on the campus again in the near future.

"Sincerely yours,
Phillip L. Friedman, Chairman
Distinguished Speakers’ Programme"

In the coming year we hope to address many more university gatherings.

PARADOX
We inhabit a topsy turvy world in which values frequently become inverted. I was reminded of this when I read an article on myself in the magazine, Cavalier, written by Dan Wakefield. Magazines that should stand for integrity and objectivity have been guilty of the most vicious slanders against the Christian Anti-Communism Crusade. These magazines include: The Christian Century, America, The Commonweal, Reporter Magazine, and News Week to mention but a few.
In contrast to this the article in Cavalier is one of the most objective and unbiased we have read. Cavalier is not a magazine that we would commend to our readers. It specializes in the display of the undraped female form and the presentation of sex.
It is a paradox when a magazine of this caliber presents an article of so much higher quality than religious and liberal journals.
Some extracts from the article of Don Wakefield are noticeable:

"The reputation of Schwarz as a menace who preaches ‘hate’ and ‘fascism’ seems based on the broad kind of categorizing that the liberals complain of as ‘guilt by association’ when it is applied to them by the rightniks. Just as many of the rightniks see all people on the left as ‘Communists,’ many of the leftniks see all people of the right as ‘Fascists.’ But the trouble is they don’t really see each other at all. This was literally the case with one of Dr. Schwarz’s critics in New York, who refused to meet with Schwarz personally and discuss his views–a confrontation which might have upset the neat categories so comfortably arranged in the critic’s mind." (A clear reference to Arnold Forster of the Anti-Defamation League of B’nai B’rith. Ed.)
"He travels now about 100,000 miles a year, and, despite the charges that ‘he’s in it for the money,’ he lives decently but ordinarily neither in luxury nor squalor. He was staying in New York at the Prince George hotel on 28th Street, which is Triple-A and comfortable but hardly the Plaza. High living is simply not his line, as anyone could tell from looking at his suits. As he frankly explained his finances a little later. . . I’m no martyr–but I’m not trying to be the richest man in the Communist liquidation line, either."
"Q. What do you think about socialism?
"A. It depends on what kind of socialism your’re talking about. There are more varieties of socialism than there are of Baptists–and there are more varieties of Baptist than there are of Heinz sauces. Each kind has to be judged as a separate entity. Take Germany. There’s Ulbricht’s socialism in East Germany, and that’s of course, a way-station to full Communism. But then there’s Willy Brandt in West Berlin, he’s a member of the Social Democratic party and that’s entirely different. Anyone who identifies democratic socialism with Communism is all mixed up. You don’t have to be a political conservative to be an anti-Communist."

TAPE OF THE MONTH
"Lessons To Be Learned From the Cuban Crisis". This is a discussion from the point of view of the Communists of what they were trying to achieve by putting their missiles in Cuba; what they have achieved by taking them out; who has emerged victorious in the total situation; and what the future holds.

CRY OF ANGUISH–FROM THE HEART OF COMMUNISM
Review of "You Can Trust the Communists" in Rude Pravo, Official Journal of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia
A great tribute to the effectiveness of the book "You Can Trust the Communists" comes from the highest echelons of the Communist Party. A vicious attack on the book has been published in the official journal of the Czechoslovak Communist Party. Rude Pravo, translated "Red Truth". The title is "When an Maniac Writes a Book." Judging by their reactions this book is effective. A portion of the article is as follows:

"In response to the demands of this imperialist bourgeoisie various people in the U.S.A. organize groups, write books and give lectures promising complete destruction of the communist ‘virus’ in the country. There is an ‘illustrious’ champion, Fred Schwarz, formerly an Australian doctor. He, Dr. Schwarz, tries to uproot communism by ideological means and is the founder of the ‘Christian Anti-Communist Campaign’. He wrote ‘You Can Trust the Communists’, a book which appeared in ten editions and a huge number of copies thanks i.a. to generous support from monopolist circles. While he was on his lecture tour of American universities and various other institutions Comrade Hall happened to arrive at Seattle ahead of him. What should have been an anti-communist week turned out to be – according to a local paper – a ‘Gus Hall week’.
"This does not mean, of course, that men of the Schwarz type do not exercise a certain amount of influence on the American public. It was not by coincidence that that American liberal paper ‘Nation’ wrote on the 5th June, 1962, ‘The events of the past 30 years prove that the extreme right wing reached the maximum results after many years of effort and that a further extension of this effort can be expected.’
"This book differs from many other USA publications on social problems. Instead of wearing the cloak of scientific objectivity it makes no secret of the intention to launch an attack on Marxist ideas.
"Schwarz also tries his skill as a psychologist and appeals to the reader’s emotions. He likens communism to cancer – a mysterious evil that baffles the diagnostician. The American people he describes as a helpless child tempted to accept a sweet or a toy from lurking kidnappers (communists) while the child’s mother (Schwarz and others like him) keeps a careful watch.
"In his book he says repeatedly that masses of people in USA unwittingly agree with communists. In order to ‘Help’ these democrats he attempts to formulate a set of criteria which should help them to read the thoughts of near-communists and the communists themselves.
"Schwarz is alive to the importance of the struggle between ideas in USA and does not fail to stress it in every chapter. He offers his experience to militant monopolists in a business-like manner. The victory of progressive ideas in the world fills him with maniacal horror.
"It is encouraging that more and more people raise their voices against Schwarz and against the official USA POLICY."

"YOU CAN TRUST THE COMMUNISTS"–LATIN AMERICA
As the acute military crisis focused on Cuba subsides, ideological and subversive war takes the spotlight once again.
A most important weapon in this war is the Spanish translation of "You Can Trust the Communists."
A most regrettable feature of the publication of the Spanish book "You Can Trust the Communists" was the high cost. To buy them wholesale in large quantities we had to pay $2 per copy. The retail price was prohibitive. Nevertheless, the first edition has already been sold out and the effect of the book has been devastating to the Communist forces.
We were elated to discover that it has now been published in the form of an illustrated magazine and that we can purchase these for 30 cents per copy wholesale. It is our earnest desire to purchase 100,000 copies for distribution in every university in Latin America. The text is identical but the cost is very different. The book cost $2 wholesale whereas the magazine costs only 30 cents. (Please note and help.)

Portuguese Translation
Spanish is not the only important language in Latin America. It comes as a surprise to learn that more people in South America speak Portuguese than Spanish. Brazil is the largest the most populous, and the most significant country in South America. It faces a serious Communist threat. The inhabitants speak Portuguese. Negotiations sparked by the United States Information Agency are in process for the publication of a Portuguese translation of "You Can Trust the Communists" in Rio de Janeiro. This is a great step forward. We are following our normal practice of purchasing several thousand copies of the first edition to encourage publication. We plan to distribute these freely in strategic areas including the universities, of course.

BRITISH GUIANA
The present situation in British Guiana contains elements of hope and also cause for concern. Communist leader, Cheddi Jagan has been frustrated in his attempt to achieve immediate complete control of that country, but he has not given up and remains hard at work. The situation is:

1. Jagan continues as prime minister of British Guiana.
2. He is sustained in power by British military forces.
3. Britain retains control of the foreign relations of British Guiana.
4. A conference held to discuss full independence for British Guiana, held in England in October, broke up with no agreement being reached. The opposition parties were represented at this conference and they demanded a new election and proportional representation before independence. Jagan could obviously not agree to this as the opposition represents 60 per cent of the electorate.
5. Jagan has launched a bitter attack against England and has taken his demands for independence to the United Nations.
6. It is reported that he is negotiating with Russia to build the "fishing industry" in British Guiana.
7. A Russian economic mission is to visit British Guiana.

We dare not relax. If Jagan gets independence, the events in Cuba give him clear guide lines as to what he can do without American intervention. He could establish British Guiana as a Communist base similar to the one existing in Cuba. He could do this without American intervention. Across the border the forces and supplies would flow into Venezuela and Brazil. The potentials for tragedy in this situation are obvious.

SINISTER VISITORS–THE AMERICAN NAZIS
On Friday, November 23, I was conducting a rally in Patriotic Hall in downtown Los Angeles. About 9:00 P.M. I noticed a group of four men walk down the aisle and sit together. I noted their muscular appearance and martial bearing. They created no disturbance but listened attentively to the conclusion of my message on Cuba. During question time one of them stood and said, "My name is Rockwell. What is the good of teaching the American people about Communism if you don’t tell them the truth about its Jewish leadership?"
I realized at that point that he was Lincoln Rockwell, Fuhrer of the American Nazis, with a group of his associates. I replied, "The statement that Communism is under Jewish leadership is not the truth. It is a paranoid delusion. Lenin was not a Jew; Stalin was not a Jew; Khrushchev is not a Jew; Mao Tse-tun is not a Jew; and Castro is not a Jew. The idea that Communism is a Jewish conspiracy is false. Rockwell sat down quietly and the group caused no trouble at the meeting.

Jewish Critics and Jewish Friends
It is unfortunately true that many Jews have been misinformed concerning the nature and message of the Christian Anti-Communism Crusade and have a hostile attitude towards us. It is also true that more and more Jews are investigating for themselves, rejecting the lies that they have heard, learning the truth and becoming our firm friends. I now rarely speak at a meeting without a considerable number of Jewish friends being present.
In our November News Letter I noted that the newspaper "The Los Angeles Reporter" had been hostile. The publisher of that newspaper, L.S. Waxman, wrote to me as follows: "In your introduction to the advertisement you indicate ‘The newspaper itself has been hostile to our work’. You might have been gentleman enough to add, ‘And yet they accepted this small advertisement and have given us free publicitiy.’"
I gladly acknowledge my oversight and acknowledge that Mr. Waxman has not only criticized our work editorially but has announced our meetings, accepted an advertisement and published letters in his correspondence columns. He has thus adhered to the ethics of journalism.

INDIA
The plight of India is pitiful as the Red Chinese Dragon bites the hand that fed it. It may be tempting to smile patronizingly and say, "They asked for it. It serves them right," but this is not the attitude that either Christian charity or self preservation would dictate. Communism is the universal enemy of all free men. A Communist victory in any country is a defeat for free men everywhere. We must give all help possible and hope and pray that the Indian leaders have at last emerged from their dream palace of rosy delusions into the world of grim reality and that the predatory nature of Communism is now fully realized.
Our many friends in India need our continuing help, and we need their truthful voice.

The Voice of Kerala
George Thomas, publisher of Keraladwhani, The Voice of Kerala, has returned to India following his visit to the United States. We were not able to provide his with all the help needed, and he returned sadly without the funds urgently required. This newspaper carries on a truly magnificent work. It presented the correctness of America’s Cuban stand from the beginning. We must support such proven friends.
Further north in Andhra State the work of the orphanage, the printing press, and village visitation is an essential part of our continuing struggle. Our Family is large and active.

CONCLUSION
The battle is raging fiercely as we approach the Christmas season of "peace on earth, good will to men". It is possible to be fiercely embroiled in the battle against the godless Communist enemy and yet to be at peace in mind and heart. It may be said that the only way to be truly at peace within is to be fully committed in this conflict. Idleness is the parent of frustration and despair. Energetic activity and devoted sacrifice bring true peace of mind in the knowledge that we are at one with God and His purpose. My sincere wish is that each of you may know the fullness of the peace of Christ this Christmas season.

Yours very sincerely,
Fred Schwarz
