| THE UNFOLDING COMMUNIST DESIGN FOR THE CONQUEST OF THE U.S.A. Dear Friend: The design of the communist program for the conquest of the United States is coming into clearer focus everyday. The outline is so clear that it is difficult to understand why it remains obscure to so many educated people. Part of the reason for this is that their minds are already filled with strategies which the communists have discarded. Since these strategies are clearly ineffective, the false conclusion is drawn that the communist danger is diminishing or nonexistent. Three methods of conquest have been discarded by the communists: (1) CONQUEST BY BALLOT: Although the communists utilize the electoral processes for propaganda purposes, they do not intend to establish power in the United States by this means. They do not look for the day when a majority of American voters will elect a majority of communist and pro—communist candidates to executive and legislative office. Since most Americans are familiar with democratic processes only, they ore reassured by communist weakness with the electorate. (2) CONQUEST BYAN UPRISING OF THE WORKING CLASS LED BY THE COMMUNISTS: A workers’ rebellion, proceeded by a general strike was the original communist strategy for conquest. Since the American working class is obviously not interested in rebellion but in higher wages, shorter working hours, better pensions and general conditions, many are reassured and ignore the communist danger. (3) CONQUEST BY THE DEFEAT OF THE UNITED STATES IN A THERMONUCLEAR WAR: They recognize that this catastrophe would not only destroy the material achievements and much of the population of the United States, it would do the same in the communist world. Both of these results are mast undesirable. They have an enormous respect for the homes, highways, factories, schools, and general material achievements of the United States. They believe their strategy will give them control of all of these in the foreseeable future. It would therefore be an act of folly to destroy them. After I had spoken on this subject at the University of California, a young woman rose and said: “Since the communists do not propose to conquer us by vote, by internal revolution or by military victory, their cause is hopeless. There is no other way by which they could achieve their goal.” Surrender Unfortunately, there is another way—-surrender.” America could be demoralized to the point where surrender to the encircling communist might would appear desirable to those in power and to many citizens. The basic communist strategy is to bring this situation to pass. All the methods discussed above, although discarded as primary methods of conquest, are to play their part in this process. The formula of communist conquest is, “External encirclement, plus internal demoralization, leads to progressive surrender.” Groups inside and outside of America are working feverishly to apply this formula successfully. Externally, the program is to conquer Asia, Africa, and Latin America by the successful prosecution of the techniques of “people’s war” and to neutralize Western Europe by the establishment of POPULAR FRONT GOVERNMENTS. The United States would then be isolated and encircled. People’s War The technique of using “people’s war” to conquer Asia, Africa, and Latin America, and to encircle the United States was stated precisely by the Defense Minister of Communist China, Lin Piao, in his article entitled “Long Live the Victory of People’s War” in the “Peking Review” of September 3, 1965. He states: “It must be emphasized that Comrade Mao Tse—tung’s theory of the establishment of rural revolutionary base areas and the encirclement of the cities from the countryside is of outstanding and universal practical importance for the present revolutionary struggles of all the oppressed nations and peoples in Asia, Africa, and Latin America against imperialism and its lackeys. “Taking the entire globe, if North America and Western Europe can be called ‘the cities of the world then Asia, Africa and Latin America constitute ‘the rural areas of the world’. Since World War II, the proletarian revolutionary movement has for various reasons been temporarily held back in the North American and West European capitalist countries, while the people’s revolutionary movement in Asia, Africa and Latin America has been growing vigorously. In a sense, the contemporary world revolution also presents a picture of the encirclement of cities by the rural areas. In the final analysis, the whole cause of world revolution hinges on the revolutionary struggles of Asian, African and Latin American peoples who make up the overwhelming majority of the world’s population.” Page 24. The American Contribution to People’s War A group has now been formed within the United States to cooperate actively to assist the “people’s wars” which are being carried on throughout the world. This group calls itself the “Revolutionary Contingent.” An interview with the leaders of this group is published in the “National Guardian” of June 17. The Revolutionary Contingent is described as, “A militant group of anti—imperialist activists who plan, they said, to ‘support struggles for national liberation throughout the world by whatever means are possible.’ “One of the means is to provide channels for those who agree ‘We can no longer talk——we must fight!’ to make contact with liberation struggles now being conducted in 16 countries of Latin America, Africa and Asia. ‘Those with certain skills--medical, electronic, chemical, mechanical, etc.-— will prove useful to the guerrillas,’ said the first issue of the Contingent’s bulletin published May 15 It added: ‘Applicants should understand that in addition to the use of their specialized skills, they will also be engaged in combat.’ CHURCH ANTI-COMMUNISM STUDY GROUPS Your church should have an Anti-Communism study group.
Communism is the active enemy of Christianity, and it has made terrifying
progress during the past 50 years. Every Christian should be informed
about it. Rev. Colbert displays materials used in study groups. All the materials needed for church study groups are now available. The basic material is a series of lectures entitled “What is Communism?” The subjects of the lectures are: 1. What is Communism? These lectures are available on long-playing records and on tapes, as well as in book form. Each lecture lasts 14 minutes. In addition there is a workbook containing a series of questions on each lecture and the correct answers. Rev. Colbert is available for demonstration, consultation, and speaking. Why not take the initiative and secure an invitation for him? If you prefer it, he will come to your home to demonstrate how to hold a study group. A study group, which includes playing a recording of the
lecture and answering the questions in the workbook, may be completed
in half an hour. Any individual can conduct such a group without difficulty.
Lecture 7 — COMMUNIST ACTIVITY Once the communist has been recruited and trained he proceeds with his mature communist activity. Of what does this activity primarily consist? Most communists spend little or no time presenting the theoretical arguments of communism with the idea of recruiting other people to communism. This is not the primary activity of most communists. Communism comes to power in five steps. These five steps are 1) The recruitment of communists, usually from the student intellectuals in colleges and universities; 2) The training of these communists so that they are skilled and dedicated workers for the communist movement; 3) The scientific exploitation of existing social forces by these communists in order to advance the Communist Party in popularity and power; 4) The seizure of power; 5) The consolidation of power by the establishment of communist dictatorship so that the entire population is enslaved. THE SCIENTIST The trained communist considers himself a scientist who can use the existing forces operating within his community and nation effectively. Every communist in the world claims to be a scientist, a practitioner of the science of Marxism-Leninism. This science includes the technique of using the desires, grievances, ambitions and needs of groups of people to advance the purposes of communism. Those thus exploited think they are pursuing their own objectives and have no knowledge that they are advancing communism. A scientist is one who can take a force and make it serve him. Utilized forces multiply the power of the individual many times. The ancient Greek scientist, Archimedes, said, “Give me a lever long enough and somewhere to stand and I will move the world.” The scientist can take a force and make it operate against itself. The nautical scientist or the sailor can take the wind and make it drive a boat against itself. The communist scientists take the winds of human freedom, the forces operating within society which desire greater personal liberty, and use them to lead mankind to dictatorship and slavery. The communists analyze every community and determine the forces operating within it. Their program can be summarized by saying, “Find out what people want, promise it to them, go to work to get it for them so that you can come to power over them.” Communism never approaches the people or the masses — to use their own terms, “with naked communist doctrine.” They always approach them in terms of their own self-interest. As we survey communist history, we find that the communists have used forces which are present in human nature very skillfully. Wherever there is a group of people dominated by a desire there is a social force. The fact that these desires of the people contradict the objectives of communism is quite immaterial to the communist scientist. Their job is to use these desires to establish communist dictatorship. Once communist dictatorship is established, the communists know they can enforce their will upon the people. If they give the people something they desire in order to come to power, they can always take it away later. PRIVATE PROPERTY If we survey the forces that have been used historically
to advance communism to power, we find a very strange paradox. The force
that they have used most effectively is one which is absolutely contradictory
to the basic communist objective. Let us examine how they came to power in Russia. Their slogan in Russia was, “Bread, Peace and Land.” They promised the people ownership of land. They created private property in land. Why did they do this? Communist doctrine taught that private ownership of land was something that must be abolished, but the communists wanted the masses to follow them so that they could use them as tools to overcome the established government and replace it with communist dictatorship. The people must be offered something for which they were willing to fight. Nothing was more important to the Russian peasant than to own his own plot of land; to work on it; and to own the products that it produced. The scientific communist program was, “own your own land.” Using the slogan of ownership of private property, the Communist Party established power within Russia and ultimately abolished private property. In 1917 while coming to power, they distributed land to the peasants. It was not until 1928, when they had consolidated their power within the cities and built the necessary weapons, that they felt themselves strong enough to deprive the peasantry of the land which they had distributed in 1917. We find a very similar situation in China. The people were promised land. “Own your own land,” was the great slogan. Mao Tse-tung and the communists were “land-reformers.” Many people who did not understand the techniques of communist activity and assumed that the communists were always moving in the direction of their ultimate objective, were deceived and stated that since the Chinese Communists were land reformers they could not be true communists. This shows how ignorance of the methods of communism can be most destructive and plays right into the communist hands. The science of Marxism-Leninism teaches that they must utilize any force to advance communism to power. Any program that will advance communist power is a good program. This program can, of course, be temporary because once the communists are in power, they will then be able to forcibly impose the program that they desire. NATIONALISM One force that the communists have used with considerable effectiveness throughout the world is the force of nationalism or racism. Karl Marx, in the Communist Manifesto, says, “The working class have no country.” Nevertheless, people generally are passionately dedicated to their own country, their own nation. They seek its well-being and advancement. If you want to marshall the people to overthrow the established government, it is little use going to them and asking them to do it in terms of communist doctrine, but an appeal in the name of national liberation is very powerful. We see this in Vietnam. The forces are not crying out for communism, they’re crying out for national liberation. The communists have formed and control the National Liberation Front. During this phase, the voice of communism is frequently muted and silent. Everywhere throughout the world today we find the communists are the super-nationalists, who are exploiting the universal nationalism within human nature and harnessing it to the objective of the establishment of communist power. PEACE Many other forces are being used in this manner by the communists. One force is the universal desire of mankind for peace. The communists know that the vast majority of the people of the world want peace. Therefore they established peace movements and peace fronts. The objective is to use these movements to destroy the established authority of the governments which are non-communist so that they can come to power, but they recruit the people in terms of high ideals and their desire for peace. The communists are not even hypocritical in forming peace movements because to them peace is synonymous with communist victory. Their doctrine teaches them that the class war is universal, that we are at war now, that capitalism generates war. Therefore, as long as capitalism continues, there must be wars Peace, true peace, is only possible when communism triumphs. By definition, peace is identical with communist victory. Therefore, every act that advances communist victory is a “peaceful” act. If they shoot you, they take a “peaceful” gun and they put a “peaceful” bullet in your warlike brain, they give you a “peaceful” death and they bury you in a “peaceful” grave. In South Vietnam, when the communist forces go around
massacring the leaders in the villages and practicing military aggression,
this is “peaceful” activity because it is designed to advance the cause
of communism. The communists can use the term peace with total sincerity
in their sense. If we interpret it in our sense we become victims, not
of communist duplicity, but of our own ignorance. To argue for peace at this point in history is absurd,’ Gillette said. ‘Achievement of peace in Vietnam would only mean a shift of US. military activity to another arena.’ “The Contingent calls for ‘radical’—or ‘guerrilla’—peace actions in the U.S. which, rather than courting arrest, would be ‘fast, destructive actions from which the perpetrators escape.’ It rejects, according to the Bulletin, the pacifist ‘ethic’ to be ‘responsible’ to the point of notifying police in advance of plans for civil disobedience and the pacifist way of measuring success, by ‘how long a time they spend in jail.’ The organization which carries out the action must take credit in some way—especially after the fact—if it has succeeded,’ the Bulletin said, ‘but the participants need not—must not—be apprehended. Only then will we succeed in becoming a force to be reckoned with.’ “The work of the Contingent is now carried out by a core of 50 non—paid volunteers in a minimally equipped East Village headquarters. Its sponsors include M. S. Arnoni, editor of Minority of One; Tana de Gamez, author of ‘The Yoke and the Star,’ about the Cuban Revolution; John Gerassi, author of ‘Great Fear in Latin America’ and former Latin America editor of Time and Newsweek magazines; and New York civil rights attorney Conrad Lynn. The Contingent has direct contact with several overseas guerrilla movements, ‘ Gillette said. ‘In the U.S.,’ he said, ‘there are only pockets of activity where potential revolutionaries could work. These include the black ghettos and among some students.’ “‘It would be visionary to think the Contingent could send ‘thousands’ overseas to fight in guerrilla struggles,’ Gillette conceded. ‘But those movements are,’ he said, ‘the most salient tool current to destroy U.S. imperialism.’ The Contingent will attempt to build an anti—imperialist movement in the U.S. at a time when ‘the world is bursting into flames.’ “ National Guardian, June 17, 1967, Page 4. Internal Demoralization While the process of external encirclement continues, the internal forces work frenziedly to create a climate of surrender within the United States. Multiple methods are being used to promote the demoralization needed for this. These include the following: (1) Race War: The revolutionary uprising of the working class has now been replaced by race war to bring about chaos and anarchy. The communists are anticipating gleefully the “long hot summer” when riots in single cities give way to simultaneous revolts in many cities. As one Black Muslim expressed it on a Los Angeles television program, ‘America will be on fire from Los Angeles to Miami.’ The fact that the majority of those active in this program have no interest in communism, does not diminish the communist delight. They constitute a force being used to achieve the communist purpose (2) Thermonuclear Blackmail: Thermonuclear blackmail has a big role. By this means, America can be paralyzed and prevented from taking appropriate action. The grim fact that Communist — China has recently exploded a thermonuclear bomb expands the potentials of this blackmail threat. Nations such as Japan will tend to think twice before risking nuclear destruction from this unstable source. (3) Election of “Peace” Candidates; The ballot box is not to be ignored. An occasional communist candidate is presented for propaganda purposes. However, the main communist effort is directed to the election of so-called “peace” candidates and “appeasement” candidates. They believe such people will facilitate the so—called “detente” with the Soviet Union and ultimately participate in the acts of surrender. An army that cannot find the enemy cannot win. The Common Factor Dramatic events are a daily occurrence on the international and national scene. These events frequently appear isolated and unrelated. Common to most of them, however, is the open or hidden participation of the communist conspiracy. A continuing study of communist ideology and methods is essential to understand these events and to formulate effective policies to defeat the communist plots. An army that cannot find the enemy cannot win. RED GAINS IN THAILAND BANGKOK—Prime Minister Thanom Kittikachorn states that Communists have taken control of _ 200, 000 people in Northern Thailand, reports “Torun Press.” Every month about ten village officials or teachers were murdered by terrorists. Poor communications make it difficult for the Thai Government to control the north and northeast or the border with Laos. Captured guerrillas admitted they had training in North Vietnam. Captured weapons were mainly Chinese. “Himmat” published in Bombay, India. Friday, June 16, 1967, Page 11. CONCLUSION When one important project captivates the attention of our constituency, it creates problems. The regular commitments of the Christian Anti-Communism Crusade must be maintained. The literature must be distributed. The lectures must be given. The workers within the United States and around the world must be supported. The orphans must be fed and cared for. The support for these projects and personnel is not underwritten and very little is pledged. Each month we are confronted with the awesome responsibility of securing $50,000. It is unpleasant to have to ask for funds constantly, but the only other alternative is to cease important projects and discard valuable workers. I cannot believe you wish us to do this. The general finances of the Christian Anti-Communism Crusade are in a critical state. With humility and sincerity I ask for your immediate help. We need $30,000. We are sustained by God’s promise, “When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will raise up a standard against Him.” With Christian love, |
