Twenty years ago, the U.S. government and the American press understood that international terrorists were interrelated. Terrorist groups from various countries and of various ideologies collaborated since most were funded, trained and otherwise supported by the Soviet KGB. The Palestine Liberation Organization, with KGB support, provided training for a number of terrorist groups. Terrorists from Germany, both Marxist-Leninist and neo-Nazi, trained in the same camps, as did "Catholics" from Latin America and Ireland, the Japanese Red Army, and "Islamic Marxists" from Iran. Latin American and German terrorists assisted the PLO in the airplane hijackings of the 1970s.
      The Japanese Red Army murdered Christian tourists at Israel’s Lod Airport in 1972. Some terrorist groups retain the contacts of the past. In the eight years of the Clinton dark ages, much has been forgotten. Otherwise, the media would understand why American leftists are organizing demonstrations against President Bush’s response to the Islamic extremists’ terrorist atrocity of September 11. They would also understand why, on Aug. 11, three officials of the Irish Republican Army were arrested in Bogota working with the Colombian narco-terrorist group FARC. One of them, Niall Connolly, is a permanent resident of Cuba and is listed in the Havana telephone directory.
      Since the mid-1970s, a concerted effort has been made by the extreme left to weaken the FBI and the CIA, our defense against terrorism. The Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, passed in 1979, was particularly harmful. With the help of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), the liberal democrats in Congress inserted language that made it difficult for the FBI to get a warrant to wiretap espionage and terrorist 

suspects.
      This explains the outrageous incident that took place in Minnesota a month before the terrorist attack in New York and Washington. Zacarias Moussaoui had been arrested by the FBI after a flying school reported that he had offered cash for lessons on how to steer a commercial jetliner but not how to take off or land it. The FBI obtained his computer and asked Washington for a warrant to search it and wiretap his phone. The Justice Department explained that the evidence did not reach the high barrier set by the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, and so the warrant could not be obtained. After September 11, the FBI got the warrant and found information that would have been very helpful before the terrorist atrocities.
      Other barriers prevent the FBI from penetrating organizations that provide political support and possibly other assistance to terrorist cells. The CIA is prevented from recruiting members of terrorist groups abroad who had committed crimes. As if non-criminals could hope to feel at home in such a group. This barrier was introduced during the Clinton administration.
      There is much more, most of it promoted by the ACLU and the rest of the ultra-left. Pacifists should be smart enough to avoid demonstrations organized by the leftists who serve not peace but war against the United States. Conservatives should be smart enough to avoid a united front with the ACLU and others who have a record of undermining America’s security defenses. None of us have friends on the left. Their agenda is quite different from ours.

This is a thoroughly documented, scholarly work by a world-renowned specialist on the life and history of non-Muslim minorities under Islamic rule from the seventh to the twentieth century. Many drawings and illustrations throughout the text make this terrible story come to life. About one third of the book simply reproduces a wealth of reports by contemporaries on what Islamic conquest, administration and "tolerance" of Christians and Jews within its domain were (and still are) really like. This true story of Nazi-like persecution of Jews and Christians by their Muslim overlords through thirteen centuries is a shocking eye-opener to most of us who are ignorant of Islam’s religious precepts, expansion and rule and have been misled about its goal of world dominion (not "peace").
      The excellent foreword by Jacques Ellul, a well-known French Protestant historian and author, may serve as a brief summary of the many painful details Ms. Ye’or has diligently unearthed. Ellul first turns to the definition of what Islam calls jihad. He points out that the West is reluctant to allude to the jihad; regarding the expansion of Islam, little is said about it here, although "it all happened through war!" (P. 18). Ellul continues:

Jihad is generally translated as "holy war" (this term is not satisfactory); This suggests...that its first object is not so much to conquer land as to Islamize the populations. This war is a religious duty. ...In Islam...jihad is a religious obligation. It forms part of the duties that the believer must fulfill; it is Islam’s normal path to expansion. And this is found repeatedly dozens of times in the Koran. Therefore, the believer is not denying the religious message. Quite the reverse, jihad is the way he best obeys it. (pp. 18-19)In addition, "the jihad is an institution and not an event, that is to say it is part of the normal functioning of the Muslim world.." (p. 19) For 

Islam, as Ye’or shows, the world "is divided into two regions: the dar-al-Islam and the dar-al-harb; in other words, the ‘domain of Islam’ and ‘the domain of war’. ...The earth belongs to Allah and all its inhabitants must acknowledge this reality; to achieve this goal there is but one method: war." (p. 19)

      Ellul concludes his foreword by referring to Ye’or’s ominous assessment about possible Islamic conquest of the West. In view of what happened September 11, 2001, her warning applies to us in America as well:

Hostage-taking, terrorism, the destruction of Lebanese Christianity, the weakening of the Eastern Churches (not to mention the wish to destroy Israel), and, conversely, Europe’s defensive reaction (anti-terrorist infrastructure, the psychological impact of intellectual "terrorism", political and legal restraints regarding terrorist blackmail); all this recalls precisely the resurgence of the traditional policy of Islam. (p. 21)

      The jihad began with Muhammad himself who established himself as interpreter of the will of Allah and therefore military leader, religious power and judge (cf. Koran 4:82). His divine revelations justified the Muslims’ right to the property and lives of their pagan enemies. Verses in the Koran declared holy the fighters, the procedures of battles, the division of the booty, and the fate of the vanquished, indeed the holy war’s (jihad’s) overall tactics.
      Muhammad’s policy toward conquered peoples, especially Jews and Christians, determined the policy of Islam through the following thirteen centuries to our day. Thus the people first conquered by Muhammad, the Jews of Medina, were either plundered and expelled from the town, or massacred, except for converts to Islam and women and children who were reduced to slavery. (This is the exact same policy followed today by the Muslim government of the Sudan toward Sudanese Christians.)
      While the lives of Jews and Christians as "people of the Book (the Bible)" were spared, they were subject to a special tax, supposedly for their protection but in fact for their continuing humiliation and repeated plunder. The many details of Islamic suppression of Jews and Christians described in this fully documented account are deeply shocking and strikingly like the Nazi treatment of the Jews: they might be called a holocaust on the installment plan. Special clothing, special badges, total censorship of historical 

records and religious testimony, burn marks in palms and on foreheads, total inability to defend themselves in court (only Muslims’ testimony was accepted), repeated plunder of their goods, and even (in the Ottoman Empire) the "blood tax" (devshirme) consisting of robbing Christian families of their children for forced conversion and service to Islam as shock troops against Christians are among the horrors suffered by the supposedly "protected" and "tolerated" "people of the Book" in different degrees and at different times throughout the Islamic regions for thirteen centuries as a matter of Islamic policy.
      Of course no Jew or Christian could hold a position of authority over Muslims. Occasionally a Jew or Christian was indispensable to the Islamic rulers for a particular office and would then be compelled to convert to Islam. There were also many among the wealthy and ruling circles of "Christians", including the clergy of the sadly divided churches, who compromised and cooperated with their Islamic overlords. Ye’or points out the significant part these compromises played in the enslavement and humiliation of the poorer and less notable people.
      The Islamic domain continued to grow and acquire wealth by raids on caravans and oases belonging to Jews, Christians, or pagans in Arabia, followed by massacres, plunder, destruction of entire towns and countless churches and synagogues, and finally the establishment of Islamic rule. By this method, that is, jihad, eventually all the Middle East as far as Persia (today Iran) and even parts of Europe (Spain, the Balkans) were conquered. (The book does not deal with the Islamization of areas where Christianity was not established previously, such as Pakistan or Indonesia.) Armed resistance to further Islamic expansion by strong European states was the only effective defense. Spain could not totally shake off the Muslim yoke till the very year Christopher Columbus sailed for America (1492); in fact, part of his aim was to find new trading and evangelizing opportunities to replace the lost northern Mediterranean shore and the Middle East. Muslim rule of the Balkans by the Turkish (Ottoman) Empire lasted well into the nineteenth century and left a legacy of mutual resentment among the Balkan peoples to the very present (at the root of the Kosovo conflict).
      Emerging nationalism, combined with colonial ambitions of the European great powers during the nineteenth and early twentieth century, helped the Balkan peoples gain their independence from Islamic rule. Far worse, however, was the fate of the Armenians, the first nation embracing Christianity in the region now divided between Turkey, Iran and the state of Armenia formerly a part of the Soviet Union. Massacre after massacre decimated them, culminating in the Armenian Holocaust of 1915-16 (during World War I) in Turkey. An estimated one and a half million Armenian villagers, especially women and children, were uprooted, marched into the desert of Dayr al-Zur (between Syria and Iraq), and left to die of hunger and thirst unless shot by their Turkish escorts.

Ye’or points out that

The genocide of the Armenians was a jihad. ...these massacres were perpetrated solely by Muslims and they alone profited from the booty. ...The four stages of the liquidation—deportation, enslavement, forced conversion, and massacre—reproduced the historic conditions of the jihad carried out..from the seventh century on. ...(p. 197)

      While the Christian West did nothing to help victims and hardly even reported their martyrdom, one man did learn a lesson from it: Adolf Hitler. Just before the invasion of Poland, on August 22, 1939, he declared to the commandants in chief of the German armies:

I have sent to the east only my Death’s Head units [Totenkopfverbaende], with the order to kill without pity or mercy all men, women and children of the Polish race or language. Who still talks nowadays of the extermination of the Armenians? [Wer redet heute noch von der Vernichtung der Armenier?] (p. 198 and n. 10, p. 468)

      Ye’or’s excellent conclusion deserves particular attention, especially her beautiful tribute to the cultural accomplishments of the people under Islamic oppression. She points out that they

taught their oppressors...the subtle skills of governing empires, the need for law and order, the management of finances, the administration of town and countryside, the rules of taxation rather than those of pillage, the sciences, philosophy, literature and the arts, the organization and transmission of knowledge—in short, the rudiments and foundations of civilization. ...As artists, they created, chiseled, and gave generously of their genius to "Islamic art"—a genius which had animated the architecture, sculpture, mosaics, and the infinite variety of the minor arts of a pre-Islamic Mediterranean civilization which we still admire today. (p. 264)

      This is an outstanding book deserving careful study by anyone who would be informed about the true nature of Islam, jihad, the history of the people it conquered, and why much more than isolated acts of terrorism are at issue in the whole world today, including America. September 11, 2001 is the first raid upon us in the traditional jihad pattern.

In 1970, I became curious how the communists infiltrated our public school system. I knew they were trying (from military intelligence school) but now I wanted to know how they did it! That quest took me into finding who was telling the truth: into government, into socialism, and back into western civilization.
      To understand it, it is necessary to understand a little bit about humanity. Regardless how humans got on earth, humans survived because they acquired a law for survival. We are supposed to be governed by it. It’s private property and freedom, which supplies human’s needs and wants. And a spiritual faith which gives humans the means to keep his private property and freedom. A spiritual faith does two things for humans’ survival. It anchors one’s soul to a purpose and controls one’s conduct. It sets limits on behavior. Without that, people would never have become civilized. Lose it and people become barbarians again. That’s why the communists killed tens of millions.
      The seeds of western civilization were planted when the hunters, gatherers, and growers started to trade. Trade is the force that built western civilization. It brought forth communities when a trading day came into being, from which authority to keep the communities civilized arose and taxes were paid to protect the community. What came out of those times was that humans want their needs and wants at the cheapest cost. Cost is measured in time and labor. The cheapest way to move goods is on water. That is true today also. That is why civilization developed on the waterways. The big cities were in ports and on large waterways. One has only to look at a map to realize why western civilization formed around the Mediterranean Sea. Today we are digging up ships that have been in the sea 3,000 years. We know the oils, the essences, the grains, and the pottery they traded. It tells why Athens became the center of civilization. It was the center of trade. The wealth commerce brought developed their arts, their culture, and the philosophers. But it doesn’t tell why Athens failed. Wrong, it does tell us. We haven’t put it together yet. The historians have been misled.
      Not all went into the ash heap of those nation states. Humans kept what benefitted them in trade—the arts and culture that pleased them. The foundation for our marine laws, marine insurance, and marine financing comes from those ashes. The philosophers started us on the search for the secrets of mankind. What drives humans? What controls their behavior? The theory for socialism, not the origin, arose from their misbeliefs. For instance, Aristotle for one, 

therorized that the city was the controlling force over humans. He was wrong. What made humans flock to the cities was the goods that were available that humans wanted to ease and make their lives better. When the goods quit coming, the cities died. Our answer lies in, why did the goods quit coming? What stopped commerce? It was government’s doing, of course, but how and why did it happen? We should know why, because it works the same today.
      But there is an important story in western civilization that hasn’t been told yet. Western civilization has a goal, a purpose, and even a soul. A goal of peace and tranquility for mankind. Its detours were horrendous. Still it always found its way back to its purpose and made progress. When we understand how that gets accomplished, the part humans play getting in its way, humanity will eliminate western civilization’s detours. For instance, humans have proven to be the best arrangers for the trade they desire. They want absolute free trade. The same thing we enjoy between our fifty states or interstate trade. That delivers the goods they desire at the least cost. It’s government arranged trade that undermines the process and hinders civilization’s progress.
      Fast forward to Rome. We have the same story. Rome grew as a Republic governed by its Senate. For two hundred years it prospered, built roads, viaducts, aided and abetted trade. Much of what they did is still here. Then the Roman Senate grew corrupt, greed took over, the emperors took over power, and that is a sure fire formula for failure and disaster. It is not hard to understand how when one realizes how humans’ react to the circumstances. The same was true for Eastern Europe, the Byzantine Empire. The evil was socialism.
      Rome was a hollow shell when it collapsed and the entire civilization structure collapsed with it. Commerce stopped and the world went into the dark ages. What came out of Rome’s ashes was the rule of law—Justinian law by Pope Gregory, and Anglo Saxton law by Henry II. What gives the law its power is that it addresses human needs and wants first. It gives him his law of survival. Margaret Thatcher defined the law as fairness, equality and justice. That’s what our constitution is based on. The rule of law has been around for 1,000 years and humanity has lived a rather peaceful existence under it. Civilization has advanced in giant strides. The law has been tested. King William lost his head over maintaining his word was law, not the lords. But the American colonies came out of that. King George III lost the American colonies testing the law. America is testing the law for the third time with its socialism. Will America survive? The French Revolution ignored the law and brought on Napoleon. France has never recovered its greatness. Germany under Bismark ignored it, which eventually brought forth Hitler and WW II. Lenin and Stalin tried ruling without it. These are human governing experiences that all failed.

      There is something common behind all those failures in ruling people. The common denominator to all is human inherent beliefs and behavior. The common thing from the first days to today is the dullest subject. That which insures the destruction of a society is socialism. Socialism is not communism. Stalin said that socialism is the first step to communism. Consequently there are other steps involved. But we need the origin of socialism first. Socialism has been around throughout history. It is recognizable throughout the Bible. It is in all humans. It arose with humans and I refer to it as self interest. So why does it become evil? Human traits make it evil. Self interest is acceptable if it is not at the expense of others. But when self interest is at the expense of others it crosses the line into evil and socialism is on a progressive road to tyranny. The first corruption is greed and from there corruption spreads like weeds. Decadence captures a society and undermines it. The steps of socialism: after acceptance, the evil are dissatisfactied with those who govern followed by resistance to government, the government cracks down and the society has a tyranny, a form of dictatorship, the latest being communism. America today is into resistance and socialism gnaws at its insides. The biggest indicator is tax evasion but there are others. The destruction of society occurs when the people realize they are enslaved, they cease producing which is the life blood of all societies, and their government collapses. Exactly what happened to the Soviet Union. Socialism is basically economics: communism is a political system. But until we understand the depths of socialism’s ways, history will repeat itself. Probably because humans cannot connect with what they experience today to what happened in history. It has to be taught to them even though they are identical.
      The force that has driven humans throughout history and today is found in the following: "Man wishes to labor when he pleases, where he pleases and as much as he pleases." A French legal philosopher summed it up as the fatal tendency of mankind. "When they can, man will live and prosper at the expense of others." I put it into theory; humans will not live in a regimented society that denies them their laws of survival. They will rebel. And all the planners for a socialistic society or a society that goes into socialism takes away the human law of survival. The state owns all the property, the production is distributed as the state dictates, freedoms are curtailed to serve the state, religion is disallowed, the elite grows privileged, corruption takes over and the society goes into decadence. Only force holds it together until commerce fails. We see much of it in America today.

      So what about America?
      In 1884 a small group of dissatisfied intellects in London tried Marxism for a solution for the worker’s ills. They organized a strike, got the workers some benefits, then watched all they’d done fall apart. They wondered why. Deciding Marx was right in theory but wrong about revolution, they decided that Marxism (socialism) for the world could only be attained through education—educate minds to accept it. They had two objectives to accomplish their socialism for the world: a world government (complimentary to Cecil Rhodes idea) and to destroy the American constitution to bring America back under the British flag to socialize it. Their method of operation was to hide their socialism, move slowly (from which their turtle symbol came) and convert the second level of authority—the advisors to the top, through education and permeation. These Fabians, as they called themselves, infiltrated the prestigious colleges and universities of England and Europe, teaching socialism. They were very successful attracting a following and money. They also started the London School of Economics to spread their socialism.
      In 1899 they brought their methods and beliefs to America, joined with the Carnegie Foundation and with the money convinced the deans of our Ivy League Colleges to write and teach their ideas of socialism to socialize America. In 15 years their disciples were in positions of power, advising our leaders and our President, Woodrow Wilson. They are responsible for America getting the income tax again. It has proved far more disastrous for America than just redistribution of the wealth scheme, one of socialism’s first objectives.
      America would not go along with their one world government scheme, the League of Nations. They revised it, bided their time as socialistic thought spread in American minds, and waited for the next opportunity. In the mean time the highly influential departments of our culture and schools are being socialized and the country is being permeated with their beliefs. As governor of New York, Franklin Roosevelt was already a believer in socialism. He was advised by those Fabians who were advising Woodrow Wilson.
      We heard very little of the Fabians because they never put forth their own. They gave support to those who believed in their socialism.
      The depression of the 1930s and electing Franklin D. Roosevelt president opened doors to the socialization of America. Our government became infiltrated with communism’s spies who found a ready, willing group of 

socialist believers to aid them. Roosevelt had our greatest spy sitting at his elbow. The Fabians got their world government, the United Nations, under the cover of World War II. America also got another disastrous law in 1935. FDR gave the labor unions a monopoly over the workers; mandatory dues, exclusive bargaining power, and join or no work. The deck was stacked against Americanism as time proved. The door to socialism was wide open. The National Education Association was taken over by believers in socialism.
      The Fabians took over the British Labour Party in 1945, stopping Winston Churchill from becoming Prime Minister. They had majority influence over the British government, socialized Britain by nationalizing its industry and set up initiative- killing welfare programs. In five years Britain was bankrupt. The west bailed it out to the tune of $4 billion, probably $30 billion or more in today’s dollars. Margaret Thatcher undid it by reprivatizing their industry. They got rid of her. Tony Blair is undoing it trying to get Britain into the European Union, which is socialistically controlled by the U.N., and German dominated. It’s been said that the Germans are now trying to accomplish with diplomacy what Hitler failed to do with force. The greed started about 1960. Today the U.N. is trying to set in order the means and power to keep America from getting in their way by destroying and undermining America’s sovereignty. They progress rapidly. They are getting a military and demanding to tax commerce.
      The income tax allowed the government to amass huge sums of money. With it they built our bureaucracy. Today our tax laws are laws for the privileged with influence. Special interests feed on them. Our bureaucracies grow ever more powerful, corruption is rampant, and they put themselves above the law. Our Roman Senate, led by the democrats, allows it. Socialism in America, aiding and abetting its decadence, marches on.
      Our government, the elected, is controlled by special interests. The money the labor unions amass from mandatory dues buys our legislators, congressmen, our bureaucracies, boards, committeemen, our judges and even President. Our Roman senators are whores, taking union money and blocking any legislation to stop it—such as a national right to work law. That is socialism’s decadence and corruption undermining culture, laws, and it marches on. It gets worse, socialism in America.
      In the 1950s the National Education Association became a militant labor union and adopted the United Nation’s objective—socialism for the world. They educate young 

minds into a one world philosophy, removing patriotism, Americanism, and demoting the stars and stripes and our Constitution into secondary consideration. They also move to destroy all spiritual faith because religion, in due time, will destroy socialism. Programs such as Earth Day, peace posturing, environmental brain washing of children all originated from the United Nation’s octopus of conventions, committees, branches and boards. They use their humanistic groups as fig leaves to hide their true intentions. To date, the NEA has educated two generations of unconscious socialists, those who look to government for their general welfare, things we did for ourselves 50 years ago. And taxes move ever upward. These unconscious socialists are the reason Bush didn’t destroy the Clinton/Gore socialism by 70 to 75%. Before America was socialized, he would have won.
      That’s what happened to America. Will America survive? That is up to the people. Approximately two thirds of our congress are either socialists or unconscious socialists. They need to be influenced to do for Americanism. We need a flat tax to do away with the special interests and privileged. Special interests open the door to socialism. We need to put the labor union on a strictly voluntary basis and take their monopoly over the workers away. It is not necessary to destroy the unions, except the National Education Association since they have no interest in Americanism or the welfare of our children. Their only purpose is their political power to socialize America gained through teacher’s dues.
      We are not going to fix our schools until the NEA mentality is broken from the top down, from the Department of Education, NEA dominated, to the PTA’s. And from the PTA’s up through the Department of Education. Electing school boards who hire superintendents without the NEA mentality would help. Giving school principals their education budgets with standards to meet would decentralize school districts and make it harder for the NEA or AFT to control. Parents would regain interest in the schools with principal control. The Department of Education must go. It was a gift to the National Education Association for electing Jimmy Carter president. It is very costly and totally unnecessary.
      When America worked and the people believed in Americanism, we had a government by the people for the people, and no socialism. Today we have government by special interests and are drowning in socialism. Only the people can change it. Everyone’s ideas and efforts in that direction count. Let’s roll!
